Santa brought the PS3, Prologue, and Rockband.

These things work: Rockband, DVD play through the PS3, internet access through the PS3, Media Center file access from external Vista64 system, etc.

All inputs to the PS3 are good including Rockband instruments, a 2nd DS controller, the BlueTooth DVD remote, and outputs are good with component cables with 2ch audio to the Sony Wega TV.

What doesn't work is Prologue. The system is configured to 'autoplay' the game or DVD, and it does. Prologue gives the Sony and PD credit screens and stops with this message:

Confirmation
Accessing Game data
Please do not switch off the PS3 system while the HDD access light is flashing. (and the cursor is on an OK button).

The system sits there for ever and there is no HDD activity, (I left it over night to be sure).

I have searched through this board and the http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/ site for support and FAQ material, but all support questions relate to 'once the game is actually running' - and I do not get that far.

The PS3 is running 2.53 code and it is basically in factory default configuration having only been out of the box for 3 days.

Suggestions on how I can get driving?

Thank you in advance.

Did you press X on the 'OK' button?

If so then I can't think of anything...

The screen has no progress bars or other indications of activity.

I do not have access to another copy and this disk looks pristine. The best media test option would be to take it back to EB Games and have them load it.

When it is in the 'Please Wait' mode the 'OK' button has a pulsing red border and the only button that wil produce results is the round PS3 button in the middle.

Clarification; The pulsing red border is on the screen where the cursor is on an 'OK' button, and the other button reference is for the controller(s).

do you have other controllers hooked up??? you have to make sure youre using controller one... this can change if you have more things hooked up... steering wheel, guitar for rockband?

Thank you Blitz.

There are many controllers, including 2 DS3s, the drums, and the BlueTooth DVD remote.

A different controller accepted the 'X' button input and it is past that screen.

Now the fun begins.

Thank you all.

try taking autoplay off. this game needs to be installed on the HDD. so with auto play on it might be messing it up. don't know if that will help but worth a try before a trip back to EB.

ohh have yu tried to put your controller to number 1. This may sound stupid but when I got my Rockband 2 USB thingy connected to the PS3 my controller instantly switched my normal controller to number 3.

In the future either unplug all other USB connected devices (your Rock Band instruments) before turning the system on, or when you see that the light on your controller is on any number other than 1 hit the PS button and go into controller settings. This will allow you to reassign it to controller 1.

Many games require you to use controller 1 and so this won't be the first time this creeps up on you.

In Rock Band the controller goes to 3 because the controller is used by the singer for menu selection, and the singer is considered player 3. So, in Rock Band controller port won't matter as it expects the controller to not be player 1.

No problem! I sometimes forget about it as well and this sounded familiar... 👍 Have fun with GT and hope we see you on the track!
