Hi guys, just curious is it possible to get a puncture/ blowout in gt5. Playing f1 2011 in the past I've had a fair few punctures, yet I've never experienced a blowout in gt5. I'm certain the physics engine in gt5 is far superior? Or do I just do an awesome job of missing the nails? ;)

Nope, no failures of any variety yet in GT.

That'd be entertaining for sure if you could blow tires.. Could you imagine you're driving down the mulsanne and the guy directly ahead of you blows a tire and loses control? That'd make the game 10x more fun

Or you race a 24 (tight) hour race and you blow a tire just before the line... and lose the race ?

If you have never played TOCA on the PC, I played TOCA 2 and wow, you barely hit someone and your car is done. I didn't go far in that game before quiting, I was too awful !

Seriously what are the chances of that? I was saying if an AI car lost a tire.. It's purely hypothetical

I would love to see this feature in GT5 or GT6!

For now it seems when your tires are done you just loose insane amount of grip but the tire is just like new visually..

anyways I love that in online we can get awesome (ok not awesome but "fairly good") technical damage, suspension and engine etc. Pity there is no in Single player.. or it is.. maybe I missed it, as far as I remember I couldn't set full damage offline..

anyways GT series should take a look at other games this gen and understand that Old GT style is dated and we need more realistic thrills to keep us entertained.

Agreed.

Tires still don't blow. Fully empty tires probably cost you nearly as much time as limping around on a blown tire but they never actually blow, either from wear or damage.

Yeah I know, but someone said that they couldn't set the damage to full offline, I was just saying that you can.

Oh, oops. I guess I read too quickly. :)

I do wish you could use full damage in regular A-Spec races, but then I wish a lot of things were different about regular A-Spec races.

Shift 2 is a good example, its a pity that game has a fail for physics, because a lot of their ideas are brilliant.

You cant add air, what makes you think they will let you lose it?

Turning on mechanical damage just means you can damage your suspension. I.E. you hit a wall or whatever and now your car won't drive straight; it drives to the left or to the right.

Motorstorm: Apocalypse has awesome damage modeling. If you hit something just right, your car will spin, roll over, and even explode.

Arcade Mode FTW.

Part of the reason I play such an overlooked part of GT is for the mechanical damage, it doesn't just affect the user's car, the AI suffer when they cock-up, too.

If only the damage was more varied and tyres would actually puncture......

That's an awful game.

I'd love it if damage (visual and mechanical) and engine/component wear was implemented properly in GT5/6, but I don't think we'll be seeing it anytime soon, if ever.

I also think that any damage occured during racing should be kept after the race and in need of repair. It would add a lot more to the realism, but that's just my opinion though.

GT Physics engine far superior than what exactly? In general not even close. Oh and GT does not feature any other type of failure like systems. Such as engine or gear box failures that can also happen on F1 2011 and other games. Just in case you were wondering that as well.

In Toca on the PS2, you can do a burnout 'til your tyres actually blow.
