Concept cars look cool and everything, but there's one potential problem that I see: Torque & HP charts. The lines are too straight for many of them. I noticed that some have about 4 or more reference points and a straight line to cover the gaps. Of course, as a concept car, the specs are still unsure. I've been using a Pontiac Solstice Coupe Concept and it seems...too predictable. Easily initiate a drift by braking and going to throttle right away then playing with both to control the drift. Using a normal car, it's more challenging and unpredictable since the charts are more curved with thousands of reference points. Any thoughts on this?

MLD training loby? Yeah i saw ur Solstice there today. Monaco punish cars with lag between the 2nd and 3rd gears. Many cars i tested there today, only to try to fix a bit this issue.

About concepts, well, yeah... most of them have torque and / or shifting issues, mostly by the points you already suspected. Otherwise, from the many concept cars we have on GT5, the Solstice is one of the most "solid" builds for its functions. I wish i could make my Infinity Concept acts more agressively, not only by torque band but also by angles. And im still working on it.

Yeah, that lobby. Getting the Sileighty on that hairpin was tough... The Solstice was pretty...balanced for that track. I admit I've been making a ton of mistakes today, but that section where we were really tested how we'd shift, brake and accelerate. I haven't changed its default settings yet since I'm still trying to figure out how it's like first.

The thing about concept cars is that their physics is different from normal cars since things are exaggerated during that stage of design. At the same time, everything is just estimated just like the torque and hp lines. It's a blast to play with since it has a different mood to it, but it seems like it's more limited compared to production cars.

I started playing the the Solstice by adding Lightweight upgrades, drivetrain, close range transmission, suspension, and intake-exhaust upgrades. It handled really well like that.

I don't find anything wrong with using the Solstice. Having said that, if you find it too easy to drift and want something more challenging, by all means, use something more challenging. I would take the opportunity to use the drifting ease of the car to your advantage because so many people use other things to their advantage (i.e. the time attack cars with their ridiculous grip levels).

I tried some concept cars here and there. I didn't really notice a difference. It might just be because I did not stick with the cars for so long.

If you stick with the RX8 Concept (any of them) and compare to the premium one, you will feel some natural strugle to shift gears at lower rpm on these Concepts.

Its a shame, cose one of these Concept RX8 have a so much badass look, even with poor modeling and texturing.

You got a point there. I remember using the Solstice trying to keep up with your GT40 on Tsukuba. 9 second gap. At the same time though, I feel like I can push the Solstice to have a sharper angle during turns.

The GT isn't an angle monster but it snaps necks on transition, that's what I tuned it for (using the car's natural weight balance and instantaneous and copious torque), though most FR cars have the capability of better angle anyway. I only whip out the GT in disorganized lobbies where there doesn't seem to be much of a plan, but at the same time, I try to keep it off of other cars too.

Yeah, I noticed that a LONG time ago before I took a break from the game. GT40 seems like a time attack drift car, too.

Maybe because the gt40 isn't a drift car?

Maybe I'm not referring to the GT40 being a drift car? I've seen BenBurroughs drift a long time ago. Just simply stating that I've notice his use of cars. The time of his first post on his thread was actually right after I was in the same lobby as him. I don't remember what other cars he has used before though.

That tells me you think the GT40 is a time attack "drift car"

To be fair, it's the Ford GT and not the GT40, not that this makes it any more of a drift car. It's definitely over-tired (even on Comfort Hards) and the rear weight bias adds to the snappiness, but that's why I love it.

As for what cars I use, I use just about anything RWD other than race cars (except for the odd GT500 SC430 or GT-R, or my Dyson (2J) when people complain about having too much power for the CH restriction), simply to find what I enjoy. I can even appreciate an AE86 or Silvia Q's from time to time.

I still make a point to not abuse vehicle attributes in ways that would get my kicked from a proper drift lobby, and I'm more than willing to change cars on the spot if one is deemed inappropriate, as long as any 4WD car users change as well.

I have a hard time enjoying the AE86. I feel like it's too grippy and doesn't swing around enough for me. I actually found a car that has a similar torque and horsepower line like concept cars. Toyota Supra 3.0GT Turbo A from the new cars dealership, I've been tweaking it slowly, my next set of tweaks will just revolve around getting more angle like the Solstice.
