Football Manager 2006 - Progress thread.

Im surprised theres nothing here about the new champ manager game. I guess this will mainly apply to memebers in the UK.
If you are thinking of buying this for your 360 then I would definately recommend it.
My current game-save is with Newcastle (I was sacked from Arsenal for poor management of staff !! ) here is my current squad.

Hildebrant - GK
Maxwell - DL
Van Buyten - DC
Taylor - DC
Johnson - DR
Luque - AML
Carvalho - MC
Emre - MC
Milner - AMR
Delgado - FC
Owen - FC.

I signed Carvalhho and Delgado just after I took over as manager, I'm now part way through my first season with them. 5th in the prem, knocked out of FA cup and carling cup - Thru to the quarters of the EURO cup.
I've had Carvalho out injured for almost 3 months and seem to be doing OK without him.

Let me know where you are if you've got this game - we can try to help people win those titles !!!!
 
So is this like Head Coach (NFL Football) here in the US? I hear it is dreadfully boring, but this Soccer/Football version might not be too bad. You can atleast play as your dudes, right? In Head Coach, you are just that, a Head Coach. You don't play any games, and it is downright stupid.
 
I've got the game but i havn't got round to playing it yet. Whats it like, i havn't played a football manager game since back in the Spectrum days.

I thought exactly the same as you my friend, cos you dont actually PLAY the game you just manage the team, you do watch the game though and see you work unfold infront of your eyes. Its is soooooo in depth though, thats what makes it playable - Its by far the most addictive game I have EVER played.

Got thru to the finals of the EURO cup today, against Roma in a stadium in Germany called Wankder !! Beat Valencia to get there so I quite fancy my chances of winning against Roma - I shall let you know if we win tomorrow.

I also picked up Fabio Grosso on a free xfer, he is 31 but I'll get at least 1 good season out of him.

@ANK - I would definately make some spare time to get started - you'll love it I promise you !!
 
Its a soccer manager game, anyway James why did you not buy this game for the PC instead?

I've never really been into PC gaming - The only thing I have ever played on my PC is C & C red alert. I dont know why, but I just never got into playing games on the PC - Its always been PS2, then X-Box and PS2 now just 360. Have I lead a sheltered life ?? !!
 
True - I thought there might be a minsunderstanding about "soccer/football!!"

So I started a new season with my new squad last night - Smashed Blackburn 4-0 at home but then got beat by Man U away - All the top teams like Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool, drew their first games so Im only a point away at the moment.

I think my biggest task this season will be to keep all the players happy - I've signed some beauties and I need to make sure they all get a game, or they'll start to moan !!!
