Untill recently I would've said no. But it seems from the day my son was able to walk he's been dancing. Whenever music comes on he starts bouncing at the knees and smiling. It's very cute, but it got me thinking about dance in general. It is culturally universal, and like most universals, it can probably be traced back to some innate instinct.

I'm glad to see he enjoys it because I have never been a dancer and it was socially detrimental when I was younger.

Anyway, what do you think?

Hey mile, I think our kids are almost the same age. My little girl is 16 months old and since she's been able to stand on her own, she's been moving to music --swaying back and forth at first, then, bouncing at the knees.

But I'm almost certain they do it because they see us do it.

I think it is great. Kristen is a perfect example, She dances for a living and it is amazing to watch her DAnce. I can't dance if my life depended on it, but I want to learn. She has been teaching me. All of her guy friends are pretty much dancers and let me tell you, They are some of the "Best" people I know. At a drop of a dime these guys would do anything for her or I, let alone their friends. I respect Dancers extremely now and actually find it interesting.

It also could be the first sign that your son is going to be a star of some sort. There is nothing wrong with that field. Hey, it is an extremely rewarding career path and pays extremely nicely. If he gets some gig like Kristen has, you'll be on a cruise ship for next to nothing : )

I don't believe a word of this. You just wanted to wear pink tights.

Our son certainly never saw me do it, and as far as I know didn't see his mother do it until after he did. Now we have these silly dance sessions to the music on his animatronic Easter duck. Yes, even me. After he saw us do it he started going all-out with it, stomping his feet and jumping around. Too funny.

oh, check this out. . . my baby sister, she is about 6 years old got a duck that holds hair bands from my older sister. They were putting all the hair things on it and my older sister was quacking at my younger sister. All of a sudden my younger sister goes "A-Flack" (that insurance commercial thing). My older sister told me this over the phone. . .
