It's 12/06/2003. 1:47 AM in Houston, TX, USA. 4:47 PM in Tokyo, Japan.

Hello, GT Planet. I heard a lot about GT4. Namely, that about the locales, the venues, some features, and of course, the cars. I have a lot to talk about, so let me see how many issues I can tackle:

---The Locales---

As you may know, New York City, Tsukuba, and the Grand Canyon have been in many pictures of places in GT4. However, I do hear that Paris, Fuji, Laguna Seca, and some rally course on city streets I don't know too well. If I had to make guesses or give ideas, allow me to do so. I predict or fantasize that Seattle, Tokyo, and all or most of the most popular GT 1 and 2 tracks will return. I fantasize that Goodwood, Long Beach, (maybe) Le Mans, Silverstone, Monza, all or most of the JGTC courses (look at http://www.jgtc.net [Japanese] or http://www.jgtc.net/index_en.htm [English]), (this may disappoint road racing fans) Daytona, Bathurst, Kyliami, Macau, Changwong, and maybe Sepang.

---The Feautres---

I predict that some of the features that makes GT3 impressive will be better for GT4. There is a report of new camera angles in replays, I heard. I'm hoping that there will be a sort of "advice system." For example, when I played Madden 2003 (GameCube), sometimes I pressed "Y" during plays to get advice from John Madden. In GT4, I hope that there will be a certain advice system to aid in completing license tests, racing strategies, and even to make note of the racer progresses in the game. If you can't have 24 Hour racing, you can at least simulate it. Take a line from "Le Mans 24 Hours" from Infogrames

---The Cars---

"778 Cars Confirmed" says one person. "Ginetta G20 confirmed!" says another. But I have my own predictions. I predict that the Saleen S7 and its racing counterpart will be in GT4. I also predict that some of the coolest cars from Gran Turismo Concept will make it into GT4. Among my favorites, I think the Audi TT from DTM will be in GT4. My suggestion? Get the Audi TT that won the 24 Hours at the Nurburgring. I think Lamborghini is POSSIBLE, but not a guarantee (of course, who wouldn't want to race a black Lamborghini Diablo?). LMP and GTP race cars are my favorite race cars. I would LOVE to see them race GT4, even the Pescarolo Courage from Le Mans 2002-03 would be cool to race. I would love to see the Audi R8C in GT4 as well (even though it didn't do well at Le Mans in 1999). It may sound crazy, but put in the GT500 McLaren F1 or the Gulf McLaren of lore. The 778 cars, though? Come on. I know it's going to be more than 500, but less than 778. When it comes to the cars, I think all the cars that are highly tunable should have racing conversions. For cars, the racing modification was one of my favorite features for a street car graduating from street car to race car. So GT4, please bring this back! And let us be able to choose whatever bodykits and graphics we wish. In that 778 of cars, I noticed some trucks. Now, I'm not good with trucks, but it would be very interesting to rally or road race trucks. If Kazunori has a little devilry in his game creation, he'd make that F-150 Flareside R/C truck a high-powered road racer.

Well, I know that was a lot, but we all have to speak our minds, right? This is America.

778 cars has not been confirmed, and this is an international racing game. There are circuits from asia, america, and europe, as well as cars from each. Although, it would be slightly entertaining to watch trucks race like that on a circuit, but on the same note, it would also get boring...really fast.

There has ben a shot of a circuit that looks alot like Venice a little while back, the 778 car list is fake made up here the Ginettea G20 has been confirmed by the owner of Gineta to be in GT4, as a result of the deal there is a G20 race car sponsoring GT4 in the race series for it.

The race mod is back but will likeley be limited to certain cars only. Over 800 cars is in no way whatsoever impossible to be in GT4, in GT3 the cars took around 2 weeks to make each, in GTC PD came up with a new system to build them which was faster and they looked better, also they took up less memory, the same technique is being used in GT4 only with a bit more experience in using it, the cars take less than one week to model now.

Lamborghini is not impossible, infact it's quite a possibilty, in GT3 PD were in talks with Lamorghini for a licences but they didn't get it in time for the games release and the Dablo GT was taken out of the NTSC and PAL codes. Also Ferrari have expressed that they want to be in GT4 and have been talking to PD about licencing issues, KY is delaying GT4 and one of the reasons is to include more cars, he said in an interview that if he had to delay GT4 to get Ferrari in he would, so maybe theres a chjance of seeing Ferrari.

LeMans will not be in GT4 due to memory limitations of ther PS2, using GT4's graphics the PS2 couldn't cope with a track as long as LeMans which also means no Nurburgring:( .

As for trucks imagine racing in that Ford F150 Tonka concept, it makes a Hummer look tiny. .

Yeah, and I bet it handles just about as good as a hummer too.

I hope that the news about not having the Le Mans or Nurburgring circuits doesn't mean that there aren't some tracks that are longer than those in GT3. I'd love to have some seriously long tracks in the game.

I'd love to see an F-150 stopping for the first turn at Sepang. I can almost smell the frying brakes just thinking about it!

Yeah, or seeing one plow through the grand canyon!

Hey guys and gals (are there any on this forum, I wonder?).

I have a correction to make, then more predictions.

I said that the "Audi TT-R that won Nurburgring should be in GT4." The correction I wanted to make is that the TT-R in question finished SECOND at Le Mans. An Opel won the overall honors at the Nurburgring. My apologies.

In terms of other predictions, when I made the "778 Cars Confirmed" deal, I'm just going by what I see online. Like I said, there will be 500+ cars, but no more than 778. That's my story, and it will likely be true once GT4 hits shelves.

In terms of other abilities and features, here are some new ones I think will be highly interesting:

Sometimes, I want to race a car in an event against low-powered cars so I can test my car and get a rush of speed. A good option to test this out would be a race generator. You can be able to set whatever race you want to have, against what competitors you want, and the results will not be reflected in your win/loss ratio.

Another feature is a consideration for championship races. To me, I think the Save system for the championship races is a GREAT addition, however, I want to be able to wash my car and change the oil so that I don't go into the next race with a car with sucky performance. I might also want to be able to purchase upgrades, and be able to return to complete the championship from a save file for GT4.

Also of mention is a Save feature or endurance races. For "Le Mans 24 Hours," it kind of puts other racers to shame in long-distance races. You can be able to save your game in the course of a long race. Because let's face it. I like Tokyo and Tokyo R246, but what if I can't race for all 2 hrs, 45 min of action? I mean, take a few cues from this game and implement them for GT4.

And as a future consideration, look at "Le Mans 24 Hours" to learn how to put more racers on track and use more realistic lighting. LM24 has one small issue with many racers on track = longer loading times. Ridge Racer V has 14 to a track with minimal detailing and somewhat outdated graphics.

It would be too late for GT4, so in GT5, that would be a great consideration for more racing. In terms of online play, that would be harder to bring 14 or more people online for GT4. If that was true, GT4 would have to be on PC to take advantage of more racers.

I'm not done yet, so let me put on a second reply.

Okay, besides features, here are more predictions.

To me, the Mosler MT900R would be a beautiful car to race. When I watched SPEED Channel and seen the car, I was like, what a beautiful car. Other cars of consideration, the Ginetta G12 or G14 (like from the Laguna Seca Historics race this year), a few Trans-Am cars (which I consider a NASCAR-like GT series (based on the no-headlights bodies)), and to me, the Castrol Supra will make a return. The car looks a little weird now, but a/the Castrol Supra has been in all GTs so far, and if the shoe fits, wear it. The Castrol Supra (pounds desktop) will most likely be a return. The 1000hp BMW M1 race car would be a nice consideration. A late model Pontiac Trans-Am LM Race Car would be a great challenger to the Camaro Race Car, or if the Cobra-R gets the racing mod. Oh, here is a "please put me in" car: the Toyota Tacoma Pikes Peak. Remember that Pennzoil-sponsored, 1000hp racing truck? Ahh, the almighty Escudo has a worthy challenger! If Kazunori knows American gridiron action, he can make a Beetle or Mini race car featuring the team that wins the Sugar Bowl this season (considering OU's tough luck).

These won't enhance racing, but think about this:

Beautiful race groupies - The JGTC girls are my favorite groupies, those beautiful Japanese race queens. Toshimi Horiguchi, Yuuki Nishino, or anyone else. Don't have these in the regular races though. Save them for championships and high-profile endurances.

Time races - Imagine a race where even if you lead that you can still lose the race if you don't score the fastest time? It is a weird idea of mine.

RALLY: Snow and ice - If you can't bring the Swedish rally to GT4, bring snow to rally courses. Oh, and speaking of rallies, make the front straight paved, but NOT THE ENTIRE ROAD TO INTERMEDIATE ONE! Since a rally only consists of two racers, rain and snow would be a nice consideration. Unless rallycross is in the plans, spare the weather effects.

RACING FOR FUN - How about drifting contests and drag races? That would be cool. I'm not trying to bring about "Fast and the Furious," personally, I am sick of that stereotype about tuned Japanese cars. But think about just drifting at a non-championship event. Autocross should be a way to make more racing. Don't have to have real venues, but just make some fantasy courses.

I'm not a racing pro, I'm just suggestive. Well, reply on, folks! I like this forum I made...

I just want a better AI and car physics woo woo

If trucks are gonna be in, i think they should only be like those that race over in the US (forgot what they are called), or have utes like the HSV Maloo R8 and the FPV Pursuit as well. I dont think they should have big trucks like hummers and stuff, that would be too big!

you can run over the mini!

well for your idea about time races...mistake me if im wrong but to win the race dont you have to get the fastest time anyway

and with the drag and drift racing, it may not be all that good, not every body likes theese styles and if PD did ad these i certainly hope they make it so you drag on a propper track (sort of like in sega GT, that was a nice touch) and not down a street...leave that for NFS underground (fun game BTW) , drifting i dont know much about so i can't coment.

My pridiction is that GT4 will have break fade along with the tire life.

All in all, I think GT4 will do two things:

1. Blow the other GT series out of the water
2. Be the poster child for a serious racing game

The truck topic is getting a little hot here. Personally, I think they would be pretty cool to add. I don't know if you'll win the Grand Valley 300 km with a car as heavy as an un-tuned Aston Martin DB7 Volante (4,000+ lbs). If that was the case, if Porsche finally comes to GT4, you'd might as well include their Cayenne.

I don't know if I mentioned this, but... I did, never mind. I was going to talk about the Pikes Peak Toyota Tacoma. Anyhow, when I talk about features, I usually like to refer to games, because I am not only in the auto racing field. "Le Mans 24 Hours" from Inforgrames might have not put Gran Turismo 3 to shame, but it has some interesting features that might be able to be used in future games. Most notable was the real-time weather effects (a sunny day becomes a torrential downpour), day-to-night-to-day cycles, 10 to 24 competitors at once, the ability to save your game during endurances, realistic lighting and spectacular chorme mapping, and more.

But there is another philosophy behind many racers at once. There are two different philosophies:

A - Multiple opponents make for intense and competitive action in single player.

B - In an upcoming game with online play, six people contending at once is just enough for human players to enjoy racing.

Before I close this reply, let me ask a small question. I kno that GT3 cars took about 2 weeks each. But recently, someone mentioned that a new modelling technique done by PD had the cars completed in less than a week. So, can someone compare and contrast the methods to make cars for GT3 versus the methods to make cars for the (beautiful) Gran Turismo Concept?

That is all. More predictions, please!

I'm sooooo looking forward to the classics. I hope for racing modifications to return. And maybe my Manta and Bimmer 2002 will make it!

Oh, don't post yet! Sorry!!!

One more possibility that may be a pretty cool car to own for racing:

Suzuki's Formula Hayabusa
http://www.motorcyclenewswire.com/news.cfm?newsid=1854

(I'm sorry I can't find a better website with more pictures, you are free to look yourself, of course)

Also an interesting addition would be the T-rex cars of Canada. Even though they are rated as motorcycles (and GT4 will not have motorcycles), it is an interesting machine. I think their website is:

http://www.go-t-rex.com

Okay, unless your have a cool concept like your brother's Pokemon tricycle ;-), or any other predictions or wishes for GT4, go ahead.

I know I dug this topic out of the grave, but is it okay to say that Hong Kong is going to be in GT4?

If so, it could challenge Tokyo for the "Best Street Course in the Asia-Pacific" title. I'm more of a Japan man, but the Hong Kong race is at evening or twilight, so it may have something against Tokyo (unless Tokyo follows suit or comes up with late night racing). In any event, you are free to respond.

Not sure I fully understand the gist of your post John, but what I can tell you is that I think the Hong Kong circuit will be fantastic, graphically at least. I'm more a fan of proper circuit racing over street courses (I can't be doing with all those ninety degree corners), but I'm looking forward to racing around the place where I know and love so much! One thing's for sure, the track will give you a great sense of speed with all the neon signs so low to the track and when you get onto the footpath on the harbour front the sensation of being in a huge open space should be great.

I'm a huge, huge Nipponphile (?) but visually, Hong Kong just has that rawness and chaotic edge that you don't really get in Japan. I heard someone say that Hong Kong is the ultimate 'cyber-city'. I'm not sure if that's quite true, but the way that it mixes ultra-modern with ultra-traditional makes it very interesting and individual. I've been living here almost three years, but I still laugh when I look at the skyscrapers. They're so tall and just crammed together a matter of feet away from each other. If you've ever seen one of Wong Ka Wai's films then it's just like living in one of them. Great stuff!

Anyway, back to the point. The HK circuit will rule all! Not that I'm biased or anything, you understand :odd:
