How can you not want one...

No KA will ever turn heads like a red/black top, this is a fact.
Yes, please take notice of my special modded custom intercooler hole on the bumper, thats all performance right there.

kinda tapped on cash this month. I already have an Apex'i air intake, Apex'i N1 Dual, and an HKS turbo timer comming in, so my cash flow is very limited. Later on in life I do, however, plan on doing the FMIC, just like it was done on my S14.

I like how people call me out like that. LOL, that's a VERY VERY beautiful engine tho. Nice job. I like the drift character on the front of your car, nice touch.

I just got through talking to my lil bro on this subject. I'm not going with the SR20, even though it's a nice engine, it just doesn't benifit me anyway, as long as I can break traction with this car, that's all I'll need to be happy. I hope you guys can respect that decision because it's final.

I DO LIKE THAT SR20 THO :D

If you wanna race anything I have a Camaro that is dying to help someone feel small and my Cavalier will be built up by the end of the year.

NICE ENGINE BRO.

Car is far from done, in fact its just getting off the ground. I'm a little too scared to take it passed 5k rpms atm due to the stock exhaust and the fact that I've only put 200 miles on it so far. I'm going to do the same 500 mile break in that I did on my S14 and by then I should have my Apex'i and such.

You ever think about CA18DET Shadow?

Why would I want a smaller engine? Because it's J-spec? I don't see it bro. I'm still America, and Americans like bigger things.

I don't really see why you think a heavy ass truck engine is good for a drift car. CA18DET and SR20DET are perfect. Just enough power, and much lighter. Unless you plan on towing a boat or something in that car I'd get one of those engines.

I'm sorry for not being one to care about whether or not my car is JDM or not. I'll get the lights and wing, that might be about it, but as far as engines go, what ever I can get for cheap that produces the power I need with decent to excellent reliability, then that's what I'm going for.

Who gives a **** about JDM. Performance wise, the engine is a better choice.

I tell you what, you give me the money for one of those engines and I'll happily slap one in. You guys seem to misunderstand my actions, it's not that I don't want one of those engines it's just that it's not a pheasable purchase at this point in time.

I'm sorry if I'm not some kinda magical genie who can make 1500 dollars appear out of thin air.

or u can do it ur self when u get the engine

lol... that IS the price if you do it yourself man... I've seen install prices be around 1500 more on top of the cost for items. I spent around 2700-3000 on my job, 2500 of that is my front end clip (without shipping added in yet). I had to use mostly stock parts due to cost constraints. If my buddies and I didnt do this job, it would have cost me in the realm of 4g.

That's pretty much what I'm saying bro.

I don't see why I am forced to argue my point. FP made a very good point when he said that the 2700 bucks is for the do it yourself kit. Especially with a 1990 and lower 240.

I don't want to argue anymore. I just want to drift. I know how to drift and I can drift well. If it's any consolation I drifted yesterday and my boys were like cheering me on, when I was done they were saying that I did a good job.

I wasn't hitting my limit simply because I don't feel that 185 hp is good enough to drift around on, it may be really good touge power but it's not really what I need to hold those extended drifts around two consecutive light poles in a flood lot, you know?

FP, if it's allright with you, I would love the opportunity to drift with you. I think that, regardless of my engine selection, my skills are worthy enough to hold my own with you. This isn't a battle it is a simple get together just to see where each others skills are and to have some fun getting sideways.

But, as far as it stands now, I'm not getting the SR20.

I'm always down for any type of sideways fun. Gimme a couple months to try to reach some form of light at the end of my tunnel as far as my S13 and look me up. Right now my car cant really go very far, basically the hardware store and back is a bit too much and it starts to overheat, and I'm having some exhaust leaks (what do you expect when you buy a 1000 car). My exhaust problems should be fixed soon as my Apexi N1 comes in, but my overheating problem probably wont be fixed until I get a larger Rad, FMIC, and a hood with a vent.

185 hp?? I'll assume this is flywheel. Where in the world did you pick up the extra 40-45ish hp?

I don't know:lol:

I had that same answer, I ask the guy at the motor pool, I'm like

"Does that thing factor efficiency and give flywheel horsepower"

He said. "Nope, when we put the trucks on, it gives us power going to the wheels."

I didn't think my car had enough to get those rollers going

Cause most of the vehicles that go on are 7Tons (tacticle vehicles) that have 10 inch turbines and crank out like 600 hp to the wheels. I figured I'd just be burning out over them:lol:
But they spun easily, and it was pretty cool to see that reading, if I can get that Cpl to hook me up again I'll get the dyno sheet for you, cause quite honestly I didn't believe it myself at first, I had to run again:lol:

But hey, holla, my phone is ringing.

That's what I was saying bro. It's different. I want to get another reading, because a dyno is like a scale you know, you can balance the zero, so what I'm wondering is if it was off or something. Because I would understand 150 or 155, but 185!?!?!?!?! I'm gonna go out in town and get a second reading.

It'll probably be significantly lower.

Take care bro.

I'll tell you what, Phase2Motortrend just exceeded anything you could expect from a company. About 20 min ago I got a call from them letting me know my items are going to ship. Most companies will send an email... if that... but Phase2Motortrend just earned a spot in my heart.

nice SR20..as for shadows point..i see it loud and clear. Drivers prefrence is key to what engine you should be handling. An SR20DET could very well match up to a KA24DET and vise versa. I have driven both engines, on an S14 chassis and i do belive that depending how you drive is what counts. Any car can drift, a FWD van can drift for all i know. I love how the SR sounds and performs, but if i were to take one over the other..it would be the KA24DET. Its not the Torque that im in favor of, its the characteristic of the engine under extreme stress. To me it feels like i have to work more to sqeeze all the power i can...than i would driving the KA24DET in an equal setting. But thats drivers prefrence. :P
