For Sure is a phrase which means "without doubt", and is used occasionally in normal speech between English speakers. However, in Formula One and other motorsports, the personalities seem to use these two words a lot more than usual. Even Urban Dictionary has noticed the phenomenon, with the top definition for "For Sure" as "Alternative phrase meaning "certainly", only used by international motor racing drivers for TV interviewers.". I'm sure I've seen in the past For Sure counters in motorsport publications.

Have you ever noticed the overuse of "for sure" in F1 interviews? Do you use it as much as them? Discuss.

The worst proponent of "for sure" was Prost.

"Super" annoys me too. It was super exciting. It was super tough. For sure is super annoying.

The word you are looking for is really, not super.

It seems to be a phrase which non-native, or bilingual, English speakers learn somewhere. But it's so endemic in motorsports; I've learnt foreign languages, taught English, taught foreign languages and lived abroad in various quantities during my life and I've never noticed the use of "for sure" more so than in motorsports.

Jacques Villeneuve was a heavy "for sure" user. That's enough to put anyone off.

I am pleased you have raised this, it really grinds me. It was the wife who noticed it 3 seasons ago, Nico Rosberg was saying it in nearly everything he said. Then other drivers seemed to do it more aswell. For me, i blame Rosberg. Liberty media should ban its use in interviews !
