A question to those of you that were sceptical before spending five hundred pounds upwards on a seat and wheel combo, was it worth the expence? I have a tax rebate coming and am very tempted to go the full hog, but this is just one of many hobbies and i need to know when i get it setup and try it, it will be like WOW how could i have played this using the controls!

Does it feel like the driving simulators in the arcade? Ill be going for a Logitech G27 and a Playseat.

I personally got the "wow" factor when i tried the G25 for the first time.
FFB is set to 10 and sometimes in a big moment i can lose control of the wheel(ripped away from hands)

I can't tell you for sure how a g27 is, as it is still sitting in the box it came in, and waiting for xmas.:nervous:

But as far as the playseat goes, it is great. Will it feel like a real car, obviously not. But give you an immursive feeling, yes. I played forza 3 with a paddle. Thought it was good. Then got my playseat, and xbox wheel, and it became awesome. Won't go back to using a paddle for racing games, expect need for speed hot pursuit.

Well i have a Playseat WRC with G27, and yes it's worth the price for me. For you, i'd say it depends on how much time you'll spend on it, if you're going to use it with other games, etc.

I don't know where you live, but here in France the nicest Playseats (GT) are out of stock from this summer, that's why i bought a WRC and i'm very happy with it. The quality is really great, and the feel of Alcantara reminds me of my ex car. Overall and thinking about the immersion it gives, i'd say it is my best hardware purchase of the last years :).

With that kind of set up you'll rediscover every racing game : if you're really into cars and GT5, you'll never regret it, believe me.

Pros :
* precision
* comfort
* immersion

Cons :
* space needed
* WAF :D
* overall budget for G27 + playseat + options

Comparing driving GT or any other game using a controller vs using a Wheel in a playseat is like comparing going to bed with a 105 year old granny vs a 20 year old "prosperous" gorgeous girl.

I think you got my point :)

Apart from that, when playing GT5 huge doubts have crossed my mind if you can ever get the gold trophies when doing certain special events due to the accuracy of the steer you can get from a controller.
