Yeah, I personally would dump the brand. The thing about Mercury is that they do sell some cars, and frankly it's not exactly difficult for Ford to make minor alterations to the front of the Five Hundred and pass it off through Mercury's large dealer network. So it's really a minimum investment issue for Ford; they couldn't care less if it doesn't do that well.
That makes sense - the cupholders in my Volvo are right above the power window switches, and water leaks down into the switches and shorts them out. This is in the center console, in the same place Saab's ignition switch is located.
