With Hispania unexpectedly releasing pictures of the F111 today, that means Force India are the twelfth and final cab off the rank. So far, only a few pictures have emerged:

Another "bladed" roll structure, as well as massive sidepods with tiny openings. And the odd choice of high nose with high sidepods. Digital camo livery reminds me of the godawful Renault R29 design.

Heh, I don't want to seem like I'm picking apart every post you're making ludes, but its not really a "camo" livery is it?
Honest, I'm not trying to pick apart every post!

Much better livery than the previous few, I like anything with has a digital / pixel breakup style. Clean and neat.

Well, that's the full lot now... we are only really waiting to see the final Williams livery.

Robin.

Exactly my thoughts too! Now I'm seeing quite some cars this year has got that kind of airbox...

That car hasnt changed since last year as far as I can tell.

Hmmmn a relatively boring car. :(

Specially as I'm doing work experiance there at the end of march.

On the upside though, that means lots of (hopefully) interesting updates though. ;)

I thought the blade air box/roll structure was banned. There was a technical analysis of it on Formula1.com about how it can cut into the grass if a car rolls over.

Soooo when is this launch then - I'm assuming tomorrow?!

Hey, I made the post at one in the morning, okay? It reminded my of digital camoflauge at the time.

This is the launch. They're not having a mass presentation to the media the way the likes of Ferrari did. They're just launching the car online.

I hope this car can be on the podium for the inaugural Indian GP later in the season. That was Vijay Mallya's optimistic prediction when he bought the team from Jordan or Minardi. I can't remember. They consistently scored points in 2010, so I don't see this as being too farfetched. It was a mistake letting Tonio Luizzi go though. He's fast.

I can't find that technical analysis on F1.com, but I'm pretty certain that blade airbox has been banned.

edit: I found it. http://www.formula1.com/news/technical/2011/0/816.html

I don't see any other teams with a blade-shaped air box, including Mercedes.

Almost the same as last year car as far i can see. :p
Now only two teams opted to used that kind of airbox.

The Lotus T128 has one.

It hasn't been banned, it's simply been discouraged. Force India and Team Lotus can use it because theirs is ticker than Mercedes' one was.

I must have missed that on the Lotus. Obviously.

I don't ever understand the FIA's wording. It's too technical talking about 10,000mm² and all that. I don't get what area it is trying to define.

This post's 2 sentences make no sense together, 'grats on the placement though.

Cant wait to see better pictures of the blown difuser. Just look at the exhaust channel behind the sidepods.

I regularly make posts at 1am. I'm doing so right now. :p
I was being picky, but it isn't camoflague unless it was a pattern over the entire car. "Digital style" is a better way of describing it, otherwise, how would you describe the camoflague pattern?

It just means the "blade" must be no smaller than it is on the Lotus and FI. What's too technical about that? The worry was simply the blade digging into the ground, so now its a fair bit thicker and therefore unlikely to dig in any more than a regular engine cover/airbox.

I just don't understand what an 'enclosed structural cross section' is exactly. Is it the total area of the air box?

We need to get back to racing. I understand that.

No, its the area that the top (the cross-section) of the air box can be. In other words, how small the join at the top is allowed to be. A structural cross-section would be the blade that is holding the engine cover "structure".

Very nice, but is there an alcohol company that DOESN'T sponsor them?
