In October 1980 the Supersport joined the ranks. It featured the same 1300cc Kent Crossflow engine already in use in the other models but with an extra bit of tuning to produce 75bhp. This was Ford's first 'Sporty' Fiesta. The Supersport still had the square headlights that were used on the rest of the Mk1 range, but was fitted with spotlights as well. The Supersport also featured 13" RS Alloy Wheels and the body kit that was later to be used on the XR2. This comprised a rear spoiler and wheel arch and front valence extensions. There are only around 30 left on UK roads today... And also my personal favourite sporting Fiesta.

My mates and I all lusted after the subsequent range of XR cars... XR2, XR3i - and our Dads the XR4i - Somewhere in there was an RS or two the RS Turbo being one and then finally the RS500 and RS200 - and then it all got a bit boring...
