I love the looks and so on of the Ford GT but it does not handle like a good Germany car or one of the others. Is it the US doesn't know how to build a good car. How can you have something that pretty and it not handle good?:dunce:

Which GT is it? I think there are 4 road versions and 4 race versions. I have all but the standard 02 road model and have experienced nothing but pleasure from mine.
I would pick them over the ACR or ZR1 any day.

I have all of them...they are just hard for me to drive compared to something like the F1 or the Enzo. They do not hang a curve like they should IMO and they are easy to lose control of.:grumpy:

Do you need a standard '02?:sly:

It's tail happy, but other than that most GT's are a blast to drive. Which model & have modified it?

I have the 02, '05, the gt40 and the other one that look like it (forgot name, can get to PS3 right now) the spec II and the test car GT did.:) Tail happen is an understatement. My Mustang in real life was too

I find the Ford GT's to be better handling cars than most other high end exotics. I have used a modified 05 or 06 tuned to 780 hp or so to win several races against the AI.

A stock Ford GT is faster than a Stock Ferrari 458, McLaren MP4, Ferrari Scuderia and most cars on that exotic category. Even when having a 100hp disadvantage against most of them.

I have A Ford GT with GT3 Specs and I must say it is one of the best cars to drive in the game. The handling and speed is just unreal! Look around the tuning forum for A tune, it can be an amazing car!

Learn to drive :dunce:

Just to be a little more diplomatic, each car has its own style in which it needs to be driven so maybe saying learn to drive wasnt the best way of saying it!! There are some people that can drive the arse off the enzo and some that cant. Its down to how comfortable you are with the car. Maybe its just not a car you get on with as i know that if it is driven well it IS a very quick car.

Just to add, I dont class the Ford GT as a performance car but a very brutal muscle car for the current generation.

Yeah they're tough to drive, buy I'm in love with the spec II test car. Such a beast

Don't decrease all the weight on it, don't put all the engine upgrades on it, don't slap a racing exhaust on and don't slap a supercharger on. Some people wonder why their car can't handle at 900 HP and 1100kg with racing soft tires untuned. Stage 2 power, stage 2 weight and everything else on and it will be handling fine with a good tune.

You guys allways say that but guess what i dont know if youve noticed but this is just a game. People should LEARN TO DRIVE in real life not in a silly game :)

What are you smoking?

I don't do drugs and never have for your information. I love the GT but I was having a few problems and they have been answered. The speed and looks of the car is why I have like about a 100 of them! I don't care what you say but American cars do not handle as good as other cars and I knew this coming in!:scared:

PD has to model the Ford GT in relative to the performance of all the other cars in GT5. For example, the Ford GT shouldn't be faster than a Nissan GTR. On top of that it (the Ford GT) should exhibit certain MR (mid-engined rear drive car) characteristics- some amount of understeering as well as exit lift-off oversteer. It should be somewhat twitchy in comparison to a true GT cars which are usually FR and therefore is more agile and able to produce better lap times against similarly powered FR cars. On the flip-side, it's harder to control requiring the driver to be judicious when it comes to powering/braking.

That argument that American cars can't handle is bogus, this isn't 1950 any more.

Thanks but I have just managed to complete my collection, I now have every Ford in the game:)

As has now been mentioned, people have different driving styles. I hear you on the F1, but the Enzo for me is just terrible.

The only Ford GT I drive competitively is the Gran Turismo Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car (did I get that right?)
All of the others I just drive for fun. Tail happy for me is good, I find it teaches me a thing or two about throttle control. All my Fords are stock by the way.

I agree...it is a very good handling car. You just need to tune it properly and it corners like a demon and you can't beat the sound of the motor. I can lap most tracks in it just as fast as an Italia or GT-R Vspec for example, at 600pp.

Jeremy Clarkson was right

It IS horrible!

and

Based on what I've seen in this thread thus far, I can only conclude that most people in this thread are on crack. The Ford GT is awesome. Sounds great, is very fast, looks fantastic and YES handles well. Just because its a bit simpler in its tech than say, a Ferrari, doesn't mean its not a brilliant thing to drive. Just don't drive it like an oaf and you'll be ok.

What I've actually noticed is that it understeers on the entrance to the Hammerhead. Never really thought it understeered too much though.

The Ford GT '06 is among my favorite cars in the game. I think it handles very good for a car that heavy. If anyone is having trouble with the GTs then it's probably their tuning more than anything. Now the GT40 is very tail happy imo so when driving that car I always have to remind myself to brake a little early.

Meh, it's alright. I'm just glad they cleaned the '02 version's handling from gt4, back then when it was maxed out it was one of the most fidgety cars in the game.

The bias may come from Yamauchi's love for the gt.

Fully tuned I find it really fun, although not much downforce.
It feels so direct and sharp, just seems to go where you want it.
