The GT40 Spec II Test Car is a pretty fun little car, and with some tuning I think it can beat-up some prototypes. Without any draft, how quick of a lap time can you turn around La Sarthe? Play with the tuning and please let me know how fast you turn, and curious to find out if this GT car can be made tw fastest GT car in the game!

I am thinking about 3:35-ish???

You might want to post this in the "Racing Report" section of the forum for better feedback man. 👍

Well I got a complaint about it not Wong a race repetitive so I don't think it's working, lol

Not bieng a troll, but just to let you know that the car is just a ford gt, the gt40 was the original 60s version 👍

I entered this thread for this reason.
I hate when people call the new version GT40.
GT40 was 1% American ( badge only) the rest of the 99% was because it was made and had parts from EU.
Ford GT at least was made in Detroit so at least that GT was made in USA.

And yes the Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car is a wonderful car.
Despite being heavier and weaker than the other LM and LMP cars you can win with enough skills.
And it's fun when you do because the car is like a steed.
Treat it well and it will rock your socks off, treat it badly and it will chew your foot while it's at it.

I've been enjoying this car the past few days, I've been running the supercar seasonal event at the Eifel track. Ive got the time down to a second or so off of my LMP times, and the Ford GT is down a few PP. But It could be a different story at La Sarthe on the long straights.

I dont know if it can be 'the fastest" but it can definately hang in there with the faster cars.

Oh and did you guys know you can change the rims on this race car? I just found that out.

Yeah it sure lacks in that straight.
I knew I could change rims, that's why I left them stock since they look better that way.

Haven't run this car in a coon's age but I do remember doing some testing of the LMP cars and running around LeMans with no chicane in 3 minutes. I'd suspect the Ford to be 10-15 seconds or so behind that, due to it's higher weight, given the same HP.

My bad, when I think Ford GT, GT40 jut click because it essentially is honestly

Horse hocky.

There is no more American engine than the 427 FE big block. And no matter how you slice it, the engine is the heart and soul of any car.

The Cobra was also a "foreign" car with an American powerplant.

+1 👍

That's like saying the Noble M14 is a Swedish car since it uses a Volvo engine...
You thin logic doesn't work s2k2k3...

The Ford GT is one of my favorites due to the handling. It just seems very confidence inspiring to drive hard and do well.

The original Cobra was an AC body (British) with a 263 ci Ford motor stuffed into it. When Caroll Shelby was ready for something more stable (1964/5) he built his own chassis from ground up and stuffed the 427 ci engines into them. Most had 428 ci police interceptor motors in them for street use. These were all American.

My dad drove an AC Bristol once. With the Bristol motor it was good for 140 mph on a long straight (race track). He raced Alfas though, and was one of the local Team Continental driving instructors in the early 60's.

Well since no one seems interested in answering the OP's question, I took mine out for a few laps. I ran standard GTP rules, no cutting or running wide on exits. I don't have the supercharger so I expect to be a few seconds slower because of that...

After spinning a few times on all the bumps my first clean lap was 3'30.756, next 3'29.195 and then 3'28.904. I'm not very good at this track but based on the progression I could probably get down to 26-27 with some practice and fine-tuning, and a better driver would probably hit 3'25. Hope that helps.

edit:
Put on my glasses and gave it another go, 3'28.206. Added the supercharger and best of 3 laps was 3'22.482. Both where sloppy but not bad. Now it seems I ruined the car as I can't deselect the supercharger in the settings screen... :(

I thought I would give La Sarthe a go because I love that track and the Fords I like them. My time was 326.651. I think that is pretty good... hope this helps!:sly:👍

Nice lap man, was that with a wheel or controller?

I tinkered with the transmission a bit and managed a 3'21.069. I haven't driven this track a whole lot before but I'm starting to enjoy it. 👍 Except for that bump on the exit of the first chicane that likes to turn my car around... ;)

edit: for comparison I ran a 3'09.083 in the R8 '01, so the ford is hopelessly out-gunned against the real race cars.

Yes that does help! Did you tube that car or run it with the normal setup under it? That sound like the car is very close to my ZR1 RM which easily turns 3.30 and below on a normal lap. On a good lap somebody pushes it can hit 3.27, and that is the best I've ran with it, but I think somebody could turn a 3.26 on the perfect lap. Only problem is that it is a hand full to drive. But anyways, thanks, I may be able to make that better then my Vette!

That is absolutely tremendous!!! Would you mind possibley sharing your gear ratio with me??? I know it's probably a secret so if you would be so kind to it can be a private message or something. If you are only doing gear ratio I can tell you how I make a car handle. If you want to keep it a secret I totally understand, cus' it is a pretty good bit of knowledge ;)

Not at all, nothing secret about it. I just tried to tighten the gears to improve acceleration. I was consistently pulling away from the ghost car at the start of the lap with it so I assume it helps on the rest of the straights also (and the lap time seems to agree).

1: 2.687
2: 1.928
3: 1.609
4: 1.342
5: 1.121
6: 0.941
Final: 2.549
Max Speed (the setting): 240 km/h
Max Speed (top right value): 450 km/h

Set Final Gear to 5.0, set Max Speed to lowest (240km/h), then set ratios and new Final Gear.

I use 1st in the slow right 90 towards the end of the lap, 2nd for all other slow turns. Shift just before 7000rpm (when the light starts blinking). Top speed on the first straight about 364 km/h. I chose to optimize it for the first straight but the other 3 are a bit slower so it might possibly be a little better with slightly higher final gear (max speed ~440-445km/h)... Not something I've tried though.

The gt40 was what you get from Ford and Shelby when they work together. There was a show on speed about the whole racing career of of shelby and ford. When the gt40 ran they were the fastest by far and were setting lap records and the one year they all finished in top three.
