Wow. I knew the ST220 was a pretty good car, but I didn't know it sounded like that!

Sounds great and really good camera angles too. Is it standard?
yep,i remember another video ages ago which had an ST220,DC5 and a 220 turbo and like in this they mounted the ST220 mic in the engine bay and the sound was amazing

Sounds great for a production Ford. Does the owner have a website? I'd like to check it out if he does for some info on his camera setup.

Nice, sounds like it is running fairly low (standard) boost. I wanted to hear what it sounds like with some more revs but it sounded like he short shifts when ever he gave it some throttle.

It's not turbocharged (3.0 V6), but yeah, I'd have liked to have heard it more at high revs.

Hah, really, Now I feel stupid, I thought I heard a very mild turbo spool and blow off, I must be hearing things. :indiff:

*EDIT* after watching it again, because the camera is near the intake I was mistaking the induction sound without thinking.

I thought it was turbocharged too....how foolish.

That almost sounds like some V8 at low end!

Damn I still wish we got the Mondeo over here. This one has a great noise!

good noise? yes.. wannabe sportscar for daddys and socermoms. but, having 220 bhp at frontwheels from a grunty V6 means worn tyres. more than that is just waste. I'd take Alfa Romeo Brera over this in instant.. or Golf R32.

Which cost more.

Besides, correct me if I'm wrong, but dosen't the R32 have bigger tyres? That would mean any savings on tyre wear would be lost on the cost of replacing them.

it also has AWD, and so does Brera V6. forgot that one? it has more grip and less stress on frontwheels, because they don't have to deal with aceleration and steering all the time. ;)

aaah but the R32 is FWD most of the time ;)

No, I hadn't forgotten.

And as Holden said, the R32 is FWD most of the time anyway.

Edit - In fact...

Mondeo ST220
Price: £24,300
Top speed: 155mph

0-60: 6.8sec

Fuel: 27.2mpg

Alfa
Price: £30,000
Top speed: 149mph

0-60: 6.6sec

Fuel: 24.6mpg

So, 4WD, 40 more BHP, £6,700 more expensive and it's .2 of a second quicker.

Edit - G.T has just given me the correct details for the Mondeo.

BMW POWER
Your also forgetting, the Ford will keep going long after the Alfa has been left to rest. I'll take the ST220 please.

We are graced with the presence of BMW POWER! :dopey:

Ain't seen you for a long time. Still got the TVR?

Long time no see mate, no unfortunatley the TVR had to go. I didnt use it enough and couldnt justify keeping it, oh how I miss it :( was a great car never had any problems with it but oh well time to move on I guess. I currently have no car, was rolling around for a bit in a 1.1 Peugeot 106 just to get me back and fourth to work but the engine went a bit pair shaped so i scraped it. I been looking for a new car though so maybe sometime soon could be a Lotus Esprit or M3 CSL, leaning slightly to the M3. Either way next car I get I'll have to show you guys in the flesh and let you have a go ;)
