This Shelby-adored S197 Mustang was one of the few cars that showed new to GT6 (and even received a 15th Anniversary treatment!) and then appeared only once in the series.

Engine: "Trinity" 5812cc V8 Supercharger
Power: 671 PS/661 BHP
Weight: 1,733 kg/3821 lbs

The 5th generation Ford Mustang sold in 2005 brought the Mustang, which had changed greatly in character since its debut in 1964, straight back to its roots. It was a model that brought back the iconic first Mustang in a modern form, and was the third part of Ford’s “Living Legend” strategy which had started with the Thunderbird and Ford GT.

As a part of this movement, a special name made famous in the first Mustangs also made a comeback: the Shelby GT500, released in 2006.

Though the car was different from the original Shelby Mustang in that it was a Ford initiated project, both its performance and looks were directed by Caroll Shelby himself, and the Ford Special Vehicles Team performed its development and production under his guidance. The supercharged 5.4 L DOHC V8 produces 499 BHP and 66.4 kgfm torque, and its suspension and brakes have been specially tuned to handle this massive power output. With the tuning as well as its special front and rear spoilers, the car is on a different level than your standard Mustang.

The development of the GT500 continued thereafter, increasing engine output gradually. In the 2013 model the car was given a new 5.8 L aluminium block, with 56% additional boost from the supercharger. Power output has now shot up to 661 BHP and 87.2 kgfm torque, with the drivetrain and chassis greatly improved to match.
