Ford RS200 Evo 1986

History:
Of the 200 RS200s made, only 24 were upgraded to be an Evo. The car had a larger air scoop than the regular RS200 thanks to a special 2.1 liter engine with turbo boost output of 420 bhp. Thanks to it's 4-wheel drive, the car set a world record for the fastest accelerating production car with a 0-100km time of 3.07 seconds (a record that stood for 12 years).

See, there's a few odd things about the RS200. The first is that there weren't 200 made. Actually, there might have been, only Ford completely forgot how many they'd done, what with bits of it being made in different places and then the rallying and then having a load of spare shells after Group B was canned and having to hastily bolt them together and flog them. Best guesses are somewhere in the 180 range.

The next is that... well no-one knows how many Evos there were either. 24 is what's most commonly reported, but it might be more. Each and every one of them is different too, built to order, and there was never a "factory specification" of them. I've never heard of the power output being as low at 420 - the figures I've heard range from 450 to up over 800. A20OEV - Graham Hathaway's twice Guinness World Record holding car (3.2s, beaten by the McLaren F1 and then immediately taken back at 3.07s) - reputedly had 650hp.
 
The 420bhp was what the turbos alone produced 588hp was the total including the turbos :lol:

saw a few that said 600 and one that said 925.
 
925 is a bit high - the IMSA GTO would be up there though.
 
Imagine they put this car in game, and then when you go to buy it, the hp is --,
and after the purchase you get either from 500 to 800 hp.
