So last Saturday around 6pm I was quite hungry and decided to head out to get some fish and chips. Wanting to avoid the main one in the middle of town, I went around the outskirts to 4 different shops and to my surprise none were open. :grumpy:

So I headed back home and was about to turn onto my street but at the last minute turned left to go back into town to the main one, pretty unhappy but I was hungry. 30 seconds later, coming towards me I spotted these beauties.

First the Mk2 Escort RS2000 (can't confirm, but most likely), then a Vauxhall Chevette, then a Mk1 Fiesta ('80/'81 according to reg plate) and at the back the RS200.:drool:

Stunned, I spun the car around quickly and drove not so slowly to catch them up, worried sick that another car would pull out in front of me and get behind them. I managed to get behind them and they turned left at the end to go down the next street, a fairly twisty and fun road to drive down. I got my phone out and filmed them all the way down, a bit naughty but hey what would you do? :sly: At the bottom, when they reached the end of the road, I knew what was gonna happen! :D

Watch in HD!

I didn't follow them because the next road was very long and boring and I had already followed them down a great road, AND got them putting their feet down from a standstill. I wish I had paid more attention to the other cars though because this was a great sight seeing these together, but I was just too excited about this RS200.

Using the RS200 reg plate I found an advert from 2010 with this car on sale.

This particular car (Ford RS200 Chassis 114, one of the final) has the 350bhp Ford supplied Rally Kit, around 6,800 miles on the clock (in 2010), was not sold by Ford for £58,995 until 1989, and was not registered to the road until 1993. It was on sale in 2010 for an estimated £85,000 - £95,000. According to the advert the car has been well looked after and had not been subject to track days, rallying or racing. There are approximately 58 road going RS200's left in the UK, with the RHD cars rarer than LHD.

Here is the link: http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page/86624/1989-ford-rs200/

I want to put this link in the youtube description to the video but I am unsure weather this will violate copyright laws. Can anybody let me know if it would be OK?

I will upload the full video at some point but the camera was a bit shaky due to me trying to concentrate on the road and keep the cars in focus.

It had only intended to be a 5-10 minute trip to the chippy, but I turned up nearly half an hour later. My gf said "oh, so did you enjoy your little trip", in a sarcastic, 'where the 🤬 have you been for so long' tone. I just had a MASSIVE grin on my face.

Great spot, not one of the less powerful ones either (though some were a little more powerful)

There was one on eBay for a while recently from a dealer, for £125k but I think it was one of the lower powered models.

EDIT: There's this one on there now, but I think I saw a different one previously, and this one doesn't state the power.

The RS2000, Chevette and old Fiesta were nice bonuses too :)

Fun fact - that's the model car.

I have a 1:18 RS200 on my shelf with the C20 ORS plate.

Double fun fact - I passed that black RS2000 on the M18 on Wednesday night (at about 9.20pm). I moved over two lanes to give him room to pass the lorry he was gaining on - and he did so - and gave him a thumb out the passenger window as I passed. The flash was either thanks for the move, the thumb or both

That's a great spot! 👍 I'd absolutely fall over if I saw something like that in my travels. You're very lucky to have had your camera and to have been able to get some worthwhile photos!

Yeh they looked great together. Was a rare nice day with a bit of sun here this summer so they probably took the opportunity to go for a drive, although the rain poured really heavily about an hour after I saw them.

Whoa that is a fun fact. What are the chances eh? That RS2000 was the first one coming towards me that caught my eye. Really stands out against modern vehicles. I can picture it doing a steady 60mph on the inside lane looking really narrow and delicate haha.

I've seen the model car. Looks like it's been discontinued which is a shame.

Yeh my eyes nearly popped outta my head, but I'd probably get over excited seeing an XR3i  Seeing this in the flesh was a real treat, I mean look how mean and square it looks from the back, nothing really looks anything like it. I shot the video with my iPhone and the pictures are actually screen shots of the full video (which is 2mins long).

He was doing "enough speed". I was just doing more :D The dinky wheels can't be good for motorway driving though.

Geographically, our spots aren't that far apart. I passed him between the M1/M18 and the M18/A1 interchanges (much nearer the latter), about 30 straightline miles from Leeds. If he's a member of a Yorkshire-based classic car/classic Ford club like NYRSOC, I wouldn't be surprised.

I cannot express how jealous I am right now. I've been a Ford enthusiast since I was knee height. The sound is just amazing, thank you for capturing them on video! 👍 Maybe the fact all the chippies were shut was a good thing, eh? :sly:

Hopefully they'll pop into Huddersfield soon!

What I like about your video is that they are obviously all mates but the RS200 is worth about 10 times the value of the Escort, and more like 100 times the Fiesta :)

What I would do for one of those. It has, in my opinion, such a weird body style that you can't help but be amazed. Always dreamed of a dirt road and a RS2000.

The RS2000 is the Escort, but I am being picky, and that's a nice car (and rally homologation of sorts) too.

Funny thing about the RS200 is that it wasn't the best Group B car by a long chalk, and spelled the end of Group B in a sense, but it coulda been any other car really. It's been the most enduring and exotic survivor, though I do have a soft spot for the Lancia 037 too, the road versions are sweeet :)
