Leclerc told to give Albon the position, to avoid a penalty.

Maybe Red Bull will stop playing the underdog card now, Max cruised that, the car is absolutely fine and as fast as the McLarens.

Hoped for a better result for McLaren, but Max was too strong after that killer pass on Oscar to start.

Solid recovery by Ferrari.

I‘ll be seriously impressed if Verstappen ends up the driver‘s champion in spite of Red Bull‘s mediocre car this year.
 
Max the inevitable as always. Good drive by him. Was hoping Piastri would win this one but there's still a lot more races to come. Hopefully he can keep the pressure cause I'm rooting for him to break Max's championship streak as inevitable as Max is 😅

All in all, good entertaining race. Was not expecting that at all and was thoroughly bracing myself for a complete snoozefest. The teams that I thought were in good positions to capitalize were nowhere and while I dismissed Ferrari, they were the ones that shined the most given the circumstances of the races. 5 or 6 more laps, I reckon Lewis could have grab p3 from Piastri with those old tires. Mercedes dropped lower than I thought and Alonso only got a sniff of a point. Hadjar is making a good case for his red bull future and tsunoda drove a great recovery.

Is it not? At least compared to the previous seasons. Max Verstappen‘s talent compensates for it but evidently everyone of his teammates apparently struggles with the RB21.

Which is because RBR can't build a car to suit both drivers. Max is a lot better at wheeling that car around and the 2nd driver is ignored.
 
A 'meh' race with only Verstappen's insane first corner and the safety car really making it somewhat interesting. I feel for Piastri - McLaren let him down today with that early pit stop. I'm really surprised Oscar didn't double stack and take new tyres towards the end.

Yes, I‘m aware of that. But didn‘t Max Verstappen criticize the RB21‘s handling a few weeks ago (iirc concerning the car‘s cornering abilities or something)?

It’s certainly a tricky car to extract performance from (which Lawson and Yuki have so far failed doing), but it isn’t significantly inferior to McLaren’s (admittedly more complete) package, it being quite tricky over one lap (which helps Red Bull to be competitive during qualifying, which has proven to be particularly important this season).

Max’s enormous talent and hard work are definitely contributing enormously towards keeping his championship hopes alive, though; it’s just that framing the RB21 as ‘mediocre’ is, in my view, a misrepresentation of its potential
 
McLaren stuffed the strategy there. Oscar should’ve stayed out during the virtual safety car because track position is the most important thing and you can’t give too much of it away to Verstappen! Even if there wasn’t a safety car, Oscar would’ve been able to get back at Verstappen with a tyre offset had he done his second stop at the time the strategy probably intended. I think that’s a bit of a blunder.

I see, great explanation. Perhaps calling the car „mediocre“ was too harsh but I meant the car was inferior compared to the rocket ships RB had in the seasons before.
 
He ultimately lost the race at the first corner, could have clawed back in the pit phase but the long stop and traffic put pay to that along with the mediums coming back in the first stint.

The rest was bad luck.

But yeah, turn 1, too placid, yes it's risky going wheel to wheel at Tamburello but he seemed to brake so early, caught Russell out a bit and gave Max the opportunity to nail one beautifully up the inside.
