(i know I did the first corner quite badly but what about the rest of the lap?)

You're braking to late in most corners causing understeer. Run the track a bunch of times, and get comfortable with each turn till you go in, and exit out perfectly.

You are driving afraid, braking too much and not accelerating early enough.
