Formula Gran Turismo - must be bought?

Tried asking this in another thread. It was slightly off-topic and I didn't get a response.

I hate starting threads for single questions that are relatively simple but...

Can someone please confirm for me that the Formula Gran Turismo has to be bought - i.e. can't be won or traded?

Saw it in the Matrix spreadsheet but wanted to confirm before I bought one tonight. Thanks in advance, moderators feel free to delete this thread once answered.
 
You must buy it but luckily enough its hidden in a level 24 ticket.

Saw your original msg - but I'd like to own every car that is needed to complete a race.

lvl 24 ticket huh? - umm yeah, there's a good chance that I might not finish the whole endurance series...so that may not be an option.

Buy it, it's the second fastest car in the game! It will serve you well until you get the X2010.
 
If it's possible, borrow a friend's FGT and you'll save a lot of money
 
Trade for the ticket. I've got two level 24's coming my way here. One for a Cuda in a rarer colour and another for a Lupo Cup Car 0.0

So until then I'm without a formula car.

One question I have is: Is the FGT better or worse than the Ferraris?

It's much faster in a straight line (935 HP) but it has much less downforce (90 rear and 70 or 75 in the front I believe) so it is considerably slower around corners. It also has more oversteer so you have to be even more careful with the accelerator when coming out of corners. It will still do better than the Ferrari formulas on most courses, but on any smaller course like Deep Forest Raceway (and probably Autumn Ring) and any city course, the Ferrari formulas will beat the FGT.

It doesn't matter, because you can't use the Ferrari F2007 or F10 in either A-Spec or B-Spec. The only formula car allowed in any career events is the Formula GT.

The only thing it has in common with F1 cars is that it's got four tires and it uses petrol.

What about dream car, like the wind and enduros? You can't use them there?

No, just simply, NO. I'll put either of my Ferrari formulas up against your FGT any day, any track, and guarantee that I'll out perform with ease. I've driven all 3 extensively and the FGT is just gross to handle compared to the refined control you have over the Formula Ferraris. Try getting a 1:48:xxx at Eifel in a FGT. You'll never do it short of an X2010, but it's been done in a F1 2007(it's the seasonal Ferrari challenge track).

Yes TS, buy the FGT, you'll need it for the Formula Gran Turismo Championship races in A-Spec and B-Spec and you cannot use any other car but this for that series.

Practice, either free run solo or one make races against other FF's
Online Seasonal events, the Ferrari Formula Challenge
Online lobbies, but like the practice area, only against other FF's, no other cars allowed if this is selected.

Arcade mode as well I think, although I don't go in there much and have no experience with racing the Ferraris in there.

If you own a Ferrari formula, go to garage from GT Life screen and get in it. Back out of garage and then try to enter into either A-Spec or B-Spec. The game stops you dead in your tracks and won't let you even enter into them.

bought it last night. was bummed that white was the only available color at the time and I can't paint it, oh well.

I didn't use it much in GT3 and didn't play GT4 enough so last night was my first time really competing with it.

It killed on Monaco but struggled on Nurburgring in the dream car champ - was very jumpy during turns. Obviously the turns on Monaco are much wider but I didn't realize that Nurburgring had rain on it at the time.

Could that explain the poor turning or does the FGT just naturally understeer on tight turns?

I received one in a lvl 24 ticket... after I bought it.
 
If you want to buy it, get ready to shell out 4-5 mil for it. You can win from a ticket like said already.
