RACECAR Repeats as Champion
Written by: RACECAR
Dallas, TX – 03/18/2008
After a season that saw a tremendous pool of talent at the beginning, Saw the administration change hands, and looked like it was dying, It finished on a very positive note. Thanks to a finish no lower then third, RACECAR successfully repeats as FGT Champion by only two points while His team at Silver arrows team gets the Team championship. And thanks to a phenominal performance by both RACECAR and amemyarz, USA wins the Nations Title by a amazing 126 points. Our competitors were interviewed before the champions Banquet for their input on the weekends race, their performance, the season itself and their future plans in FGT.
1. How was the race for you?
Amemyarz: The race...was rather ok for me. I was just getting better from bronchitus and I think I did pretty well.(I still haven't seen the results yet)
2. You came very close to getting the FGT drivers title by 2 points. How do you feel about that?
Amemyarz: I feel a little disappointed but am proud that I got that close to winning the title
3. You were able to get Amemiya1racing 2nd in team champinoships. How good does that feel?
Amemyarz: I'm very proud of A1Racing's performance and second is better than I expected. I think first would have been possible if Bri-Y came sooner in the championship. I look foreward to racing with him in the future.
4. With a season under your belt, do you enjoy it and do you plan on competiting again next season?
Amemyarz: I hope on competing in the next season. I really enjoyed this season and hope for more competitors next season.
1. How was the race for you?
The Internet: This race was actually a pretty calm, easy one - the USGP was more exciting in that the car was always fidgety and it took a lot of accelerator control to keep it on the road and pointed in the right direction. The GTGP was just a good, clean, uneventful run - I spent most of the time doing and re-doing my line through the first corner.
2. You made a late arrival later in the season and got pole. How was it for you?
The Internet: The pole was nice but I'd qualified 2nd in the two previous races so it wasn't a huge surprise. In the first season, I got almost every pole for the races I participated in and my expectations were high when I returned at the tail end of this season.
3. What was the highlight of the season for you?
The Internet: My first qualifying back, not because of any great thing that happened but it was nice to be racing again. Getting to grips with the car again was fun and Le Mans was a very bumpy track; the feeling reminded me of qualifying at Nürburgring last season when I did my run without traction control and just demolished the field. Even though I didn't do that this time, it felt like I did.
4. Do you plan on competing next season?
The Internet: Obviously I can't make any promises but, if it's in GT4 and not GT5P, I plan on it.
1.How was the race for you?
RACECAR: It was better then I hoped. I was just concentrating on making a clean run all the way through.
2. You successfully repeat as drivers champion by finishing no lower then third. How is that for you give nthe rough season you faced?
RACECAR: I'm still in shock to be honest. So much happened over time and to come out of it as good as I did was better then I expected.
3. Silver Arrows manages to win the team championship dispite only your appearance for the rest of the season and the combined might of Amemyarz. How was that for you?
RACECAR: That is phenominal. The SA-07 was a fantastic car to drive. I had close moments, but the car is well built and it has done its job and I thank my crew for that.
4. Do you plan on competing Next Season?
RACECAR: I hope to do so and this time with the series back rightfully in Earth's hands.
1. How was the race for you?
Superberkut: The race was terrible! I wasn't taking enough risks out there in the new FM01, and that coming from a course that I had conquered in earlier racing events, it just frustrates me to no end. There was rarely a lap when I ran below 55 seconds!
2. You finished third in the driver championship in your debut season, having a win as well. How does that feel?
Superberkut: 3rd place... I think I did quite well, but given that many races were lacking in attendance of other teams, I still have a lot to work on, including braking points, driving styles in the car, and setting ratios.
3. After a season under your belt, What are your thoughts?
Superberkut: After a season, I know that this is where I want to race. Nobody took any skill I had seriously in my home country, but what can I say other than that this series has boosted my stock, especially the victory in Japan. It's been quite a year otherwise, what with changes in management, drops in attendance, and other brash conflicts that arose quite unexpectedly for my team, and everybody else.
4. Do you plan on competing next season?
Superberkut: Perhaps. I may take the year off to train, however the odds that I will show next year are quite good. I may give consideration to just running a team next year, but chances are I will be back. It is unlikely, though, that I will show up in a Mobius car next season; the team is in quite a wreck.
And so another Formula GT season come to a spectacular close. Will there be a second season? Who will be chief adminastraitor? Who will be the competitors for next season? And Will the champion return to defend his title again? All shall be answered in due time.
