Formula GT Noob Question

What is the Formula GT classified as? Like what races can it be used in?
- is it Japanese, American....?
- Can you put sport tires in it to meet some of the requirements of races?

I have heard people say they bought either a FGT or Ferrari F1 and couldnt use it anywhere.

I am just wondering because I am about to spend to get it and just want to make sure I could actually use it to race either to earn experience or credits.

Its approx 5.8 million after you restore the motor and frame right?
 
If you're just using it for grinding, skip the motor and frame. You can use it in Japanese races and all of the good grinders except the Indy American race.
 
You can buy tyres for it and buy the ridgity improvement for 20,000.
That is all.
It is classified as Japanese.
