Formula GT Shifts from Oval to Road Course

Last year saw what was quite possibly the closest pratice, qualifying, and race ever. Unfortunately, it also saw the demise of the entrys do to the difficulty of the circuit as well as the one after it. Thus has come the decision to have the Formula GT on the in-field Road course. It has been the main testing grounds for this season's new specs aimed at gradually bringing the cars towards GP2 performance. it has been shown to be a very safe circuit with plenty of run off area. Drivers will be facing quite possibly the most technical circuit on the calender.

Monaco Grand Prix

Monaco.jpg

The prestigous Monaco Grand Prix

The Monaco Grand Prix remains in place as the most pretigous races on the schedule. Its tight confines make for a very challenging race to set up for as well as pass on. While its scenery may be breathtaking, its inclosed quarters does not forgive mistakes very often. Who will be bathing in the glory as well as the champaign this time?

French Grand Prix

Sarthe.jpg

Openwheel Racing returns to Le Mans

Last season's Inaugaral French Grand Prix was well received and a huge success. With the cars much heavier and lower in horsepower, it shall another exciting race at Circuit De La Sarthe. Its prodominately high speed setup is one that requires as much downforce as possible, but the chicanes, the Porsche curves and the Ford chicane also ensures that speed isn't the only thing that'll get you to victory lane.

German Grand Prix

NurburgringS.jpg

Danger still looms around the green hell

Every driver who has had a lap around this famed circuit will tell you that it is like no other track. Its bumpy nature and narrow width are some of the most chaotic dangers faced. Last year, this track claimed the life of Mobius F1's test driver, causing a huge debate on the tracks safety. The current administraitor has tested here over the Summer and nearly met the same end. With the new specs, Drivers shall have a better chance a better chance at the track. Everyone hope for this race to go incident free, but as seen last season and yesterday by the FGT world champion, there is a reason its called "the green hell".

Japanese Grand Prix

TokyoR246S.jpg

The Busy streets of Tokyo will become Fast and Furious

This season's Japanese Grand Prix takes on the Aoyama section of Tokyo for the second time. The tracks smooth surface, Tight corners, and fast sections demands sharp driving. Despite it lacking the usual bumps for its kind as a street course, It lacks run off areas and is surrounded by walls like many others, therefore a mistake here guarantees a premature ending to your race.

United States Grand Prix
InfineonS.jpg

Elevation changes and Blind Corners will challenge the drivers

The US Grand Prix will be hosted for the second time at Infineon raceway. The track's constant elevation changes, High Rumble strips, and blind turns require absolute concentration. Add to it the twist of the track's often narrow width serverly limiting passing oppertunities and you have a very demanding circuit.

Gran Turismo Grand Prix
Where will be this year's Gran Turismo Grand Prix? All that is known is it could become the round that will make or break this years Formula GT champion. When the season rounds up here, all shall be revealed in due time.

A lone Cell phone picture was the only evidence of the incident

Lightning nearly strikes twice at the green hell
Written by RACECAR
Defending FGT champion RACECAR narrowly avoided having his career abruptly ended as his SAR-08 was found upside down in pieces at Flagplutz, the exact same spot where Mobius F1 Test driver Secastion Berke was killed last season. The incident was first reported at 2:34 Wednesday afternoon. The Crew is currently investigating the cause. At 12:00 earlier today, a witness came forward and showed them a picture from their cellphone. It has lead chief Mechanic Corey Bates thinking the immediate cause was suspension failure. " He was riding the curbs quite alot, but that's never happened. Looking at where the car was resting and how he is sideways off the ground, I thinking it was stressed enough that it snapped apart and sent him into the will and around he went." RACECAR was air lifted to the local care center and has been reported as alert and talking. He is expected to take part in the FGT championship.

FGT Rookie joins in with no race experience

Belisario Carlson, a very new driver in the face of racing, somehow was able to start his own team, hire a whole pit crew, and more. How? He had the money, and although he has never been in a race that counted towards anything, he has put some amazing laps on tracks like Tsukuba for 10 years now. "It's kindof like a hobby," replied Belisario when talking to one of our reporters, "Some guys race RC cars, some build model trains, others collect baseball cards. I am a little bit different: I collect, build, and drive cars".

On his collecting side, you will find a very hungry guy. He has a large collection of cars, including a set of completely stock Corvettes from each year they've been produced from 1953 to today. He also has cars such as the Ferrari Enzo, the Jaguar XJ220, and some fast cars that most people have never even heard of yet!

On his building side, you will find that he owns his own company (Carlson Motor Company) in Beverly Hills, California that builds custom cars for people. He also has a few pre-made models of his own with exciting names like "Volume" and "Vertice". His cars have been rumored to be able to beat Indy Cars in a race, but they haven't been proven true yet.

On his racing team you will find that his family is all around him. His dad is the crew chief, all 3 of his brothers are part of the over the wall crew, and 2 of his sisters help with financial stuff. It seems like he is perfectly ready and capable, but it is impossible to tell how well he will do until the first race at Motegi.

Amemya1Racing Teams up with Draig Goch for this Season
Written by amemyarz
Amemya1Racing has had a number of financial issues. It eventually lead them to pull out of the GTP-DTM. Chief Driver/owner amemyarz had to search for a new way to fund their car for this season's Formula GT. The answer ended up teaming up with Abud and Team Draig Goch. They provided the money needed to allow Amemya1Racing to continue to compete in the Formula GT. As a result, amemyarz will be driving a newly red painted FGT this season.

An excerpt from an interview with amemyarz
Interviewer: So amemyarz, what do you think this year's season will hold with a new teammate and a new FGT colour?
amemyarz: Well(smiles), I don't really know yet. I'm hoping for a good season with some pretty good competition. I really do think that working together with Abud will be a key element for a sucessful season.
Interviewer: Now I know that your company has been on the rocks lately. Is there any plans that you have to pull it out of the 1.3 million dollar hole?
amemyarz: Actually yes there is. My engineers have been working day and night trying to finish a new tune for a supra. Dubbed the Supra Type A1, were expecting 500bhp and well over 550 lb ft. of torque.
0-60 times have been estimated around 3.3 seconds and topping around 203mph. And this is the street legal version. Developing costs will add at least another million to our total debt, but we are certain that this car will more than pay for itself.
Interviewer: Those are some pretty inpressive specs. What would you say the price would be?
amemyarz: The price for an already tuned supra will probably be around 50k. For just the parts and labor, it'll be around 30k.
Interviewer: Back to the upcoming season, do you think that you will stay with Team Draig Goch for another season? that is if there is another season.
amemyarz: Let's see how this season goes first.

Draig Goch/Amemya1Racing Press Release
Written by ABud
ABud is pleased to announce the successful merger of Draig Goch with Amemya1Racing for the upcoming FGT season. This will see an exciting collaboration, with Amemya1Racing bringing considerable expertise and experience to the new team. “This certainly makes things look interesting for the upcoming season. Not only does Amemya1Racing have valuable experience of running an FGT season, but they also have had major success with amemyarz finishing runner up in last years series” said co-owner ABud. This looks like being a promising debut season for Draig Goch/Amemya1Racing, and with the pedigree of drivers on the books, anything could be possible..

If you a story you would like to show, PM it to me and I shall put it up.

I hope that any people that sign up will try their hardest to actually complete all of the races.
And nice way to shake things up with the added weight RACECAR.
I should really complete the Nurburgring 24hour race soon.
Also anyone that is looking for a teammate, let me know.

Name: amemyarz

Team livery: white/purple

Edit:oh and RACECAR, I'm a little confused. Why is there a (+1) near the HP? And the rulebook says that the weight will be the same. I think time for an update?

Racecar, is there any chance you could change the flag next to my entry to the Welsh flag? If not, could it be the British flag (Union flag).

Cheers,

Andy

Isn't there supposed to be an all-Carbon Fibre FGT? Why isn't that one listed? Just curious.

If the series is being run in Arcade Mode the Black FGT will not be available.

And thats specifically is the reason why the Carbon black FGT isn't listed.

I got my backup card back and I just did the Nurburgring 24 hours so I will actually be able to compete in this series

Thats great, Just in time because the deadline is this upcoming Sunday:tup:

ATTENTION
The deadline for the sign-up for this series as well as the start of this series is this sunday at 6:00 PM. Better hurry and post you entry if you are still interested.

Unfortunately I'll have to withdraw from this event, school is eating up my time and I really cant put forth much time for this event (not to mention I don't have a max drive, but my PS3 can still save replays, just getting them to a .max file is unknown to me).

Yeah I can't compete in any races, sorry RACECAR and fellow drivers, hope there's some great racing to be had :)
