This is the last event I have to do to finish the Extreme series. Does anyone know if you need to do the 5 race championship to finish it off and get the level 21 A-Spec ticket? I'm 36, have 2 young kids, have to get up before 6am every day with almost an hour drive to work, I just don't have the time to sit and do all 5 of those races in a row. Some nights I can only play for an hour, I thought if I could do one a night, that would be ok.
 
'fraid so, no saving and 6 x 20 laps to complete. Plus I had 2 races in the rain, Monza and Suzuka, took 35 minutes for Monza! Lots of playing with settings and a bit of cheating at Nurburgring, but a great sense of achievement when complete.
 
PS I'm 44 and have my fiance and mum staying at the mo. Sometimes you just gotta be strong!

:eek: This can not be true. I only have the FGT Championship left to do in the Extreme series. I'm 36 years old. I have two kids. I get up 5am every morning, I have a 1 hour drive to work and I don't have the time to play the championships either... :odd:

...Too freakin' many. I wish they would quit putting in frustratingly long events just because they can.

For those who aren't in the know, GT5 kind of took a big step backwards: Gran Turismo 3 and 4 allowed players to save their game at least in between races.
 
Win the first four, be sure you are ahead of the second by at least 100 points, skip the last one. You'll get the ticket. Combck later to gold the last one. No need to reenter the tournament, just win the separate event.

But yeah, who was the wiseman who ever decided not to let us save during tournaments.
 
6 races, you only need to win 5. You need about 2 1/2 hours to complete the 5 races (each about half hour).
 
I just did this championship series on sunday and placed 2nd overall and was awarded the trophy and prize car, plus credits and xp for silver. You don't need to gold each and every race in order to get the rewards, you just need to finish in 1st,2nd or 3rd overall and the game will reward you accordingly.
It's quite challenging and I've found that one standard setup for the car will not to the trick. It may be fast enough at one track, but won't cut the mustard at another. You've got to be experienced at all of the tracks, and know how to setup the car correctly for each in order to be successful at this championship. Unless of course you're a freak and can drive the he(ll) out of anything anytime.

@ Turbolefty78, the FGT championship is actually quite easy. I did it in Auto transmission, with a controller, and used the same setup (apart from gearing of course) for every race, and still won every race by 10-15 seconds, some by 20.

If i bothered to do it the easy way and adjust my settings and used manual transmission, that margin would have been much greater.

However, for a beginner to Gran Turismo, that series is by far the hardest.
 
Not been able to save between races has little to do with "A Real Driver Simulation" because in the real world there are always some days/weeks between events. Endurance is a different matter and because I can't find the time to play them, they will be skipped all together (shame).

So you're one of those freaks I was talking about? :lol: kidding.
I tried to do all of the races first with a standard setup and only changing my trans setting as you did. I did ok up until Cote d'Azur. I simply couldn't rotate the car fast enough around the hairpin or Z curves(the ones after the tunnel at the bottom of the downhill straight) to be able to keep the lead for the full 20 laps. Then came Suzuka and I botched it completely. I have no idea why either because I know this track from previous GT games.
All of this is what prompted me to go to the practice area and attempt to get faster times than the AI in the championship, and in the process of getting those faster times, I learned a lot about how to setup the F1 car for various race tracks. I am now a much better driver than I was before and the car handles as it should. At a couple of the tracks in the championship series I was ahead of the rest of the pack by nearly 20sec at the checkered. So for anyone having difficulties with this series, the practice area is your best friend. Get to know each track intimately and learn how to do some key setup changes to the car and you'll fare much better in the championship. My 2 cents worth anyhow.
