Finally been wanting to have ago. Looks fun. 😅 wish it had 60’s to but I guess early 70’s is 60’s with better aero.

I gave it a few minutes. I think it has potential, I just wish the controls were a bit more responsive and that the camera angles were better.

Played the demo and it’s fantastic. Once wheel support is implemented ( as promised) and it’s a 100% purchase but even now it’s so much fun on my Elite 2 controller. Think this is going to be a real gem

The article has a picture of a 60s formula. So maybe there are more year groups in the actual game than in the demo. :)

Edit. Oh wait you were talking about demo nvm...

Did a few laps in Hungary with moustachioed legend Nigel, sorry “Nick”.

His car has enhanced steering which seemed to help, also turned on the traction control to be historically accurate. The chase views felt a bit twitchy and very Micro Machines, but onboard was good.

Please excuse my driving - apexes have a restraining order against me, I can't go near them.

I didn't like how sluggish the controls felt. The car continued to turn even though you had already stopped it. On twisty sections, turning to the next corner had to start from the previous corner. I drove without traction control and all the cars were very planted to the track. The cars from the 70s didn't slide at all.

To clear up a point of confusion, the game will be available on all 8/9-gen consoles but the demo is ninth-gen only.

Well, except the Switch version next week, but who really knows what gen the Switch is.

I tried the demo and I think it has potential. The only two issues I have are the laggy controls but above all, the sense of speed (or rather, the lack thereof). I hope they add options that help to convey a better sense of speed like camera shake, camera movement, variable fov, sound/visual effects. It felt a bit sluggish and slow.

Tried it. It's not Circuit Superstars and Super Woden II controller responsive, but I figure it's early days.

Tried it, and like everyone else said, it has potential. The physics are somewhat realistic, though it drives like front-wheel drive cars instead of rear-wheel drive, has crazy understeer under acceleration; the input lag feels strange, especially when changing directions; there's also a camera bug, when you use the cockpit cam and restart, the camera will get offset to the rear wing, I had to cycle the camera positions every time I restarted.

There is some input lag but everything else is fine.
If they improve that and maybe the engine sound, it's a interesting game.

One detail I liked is that I thought they would take the most iconic drivers from each decade and mix them together, but no.
In the demo they are based on real seasons.

The mid-seventies are the 1975 season and the early nineties are the 1991 season.

Is it me or is s the steering really crap on this game? The way it feels is how GT7 on my PS4 when my controller is virtually dead, I had to double check I was playing on SW5 and a charged controller.

Edit: it's not me then. I think this type of game needs to nail the steering for the demo launch. It's not enjoyable for me as it is.

It's extremely laggy. I still have to watch the gtp video about it as it looks so positive and for me it's absolutely undrivable. With a controller lag of at least a second or so.

I've done some sleuthing through trailers/screenshots and the demo itself, and come up with the following 16 years/eras to be represented (initial media release for the game stated there was going to be 16 total):

Late 60s (1968)
Early 70s (1970)
Mid 70s (1975)
Late 70s (1979)
Early 80s (1982)
Mid 80s (1985)
Late 80s (unknown year, but I'd assume 1988 or 1989)
Early 90s (1991)
Mid 90s (1994)
Late 90s (1998-1999)
Early 2000s (2002)
Mid 2000s (2006)
Late 2000s (2009)
Late 2010s (2017)
Early 2020s (2021)
Mid 2020s (2024)

Ooh 1982! The year when Keijo "Keke" Rosberg won the first world championship for Finland. Also the year in which Gilles Villeneuve met his fate. An impressive collection from different years and decades.

Hopefully there would be more differences in the behavior of the cars than there was in the demo.

Have narrowed down those last two to 1988, and 1998
