Did anybody read Brock yates' column in the new C& D about his Idea for a new type of racing series, If so, what are your opinins on it? personally I think its pretty interesting.

here are some proposed rules:
no wings
Front and rear engined cars
355 cubic inch pusrod V8s
255 cube dohc v8
conventional cast iron discs, no carbon fiber
full manual trans
max width 80 inches

So basically this would just be Trans Am, except with no Jaguars or Qvale Mangusta?

no, they are open wheel cars I believe, with no expensive R & D teams, and no big manufacturers. read the new Issue of car and driver or just go to www.caranddriver.com To find Yate's article.

Do you think they would be made to look like the early Formula One cars of to 60's-70's?

Why you would want front engine V8 open wheel cars with iron brakes is beyond me...

Yates is kind of a psycho, I don't know. He organized ( and won ) the first cannonball run. I think it's interesting.
