How to sell an exclusive, expensive sports car: release mocked up digital images, create the track version first, and use it to develop the streeter. FortuneSport, brainchild of Teritius Fortune, is working with the Elan Motorsports Technologies arm of the Panoz Group to build the carbon fiber vehicles with exotic spec sheets. Available first will be the non-street version, the Rt.R. After ponying up an initial deposit, WorldCarFans says $200,000, a trip to Atlanta for pampering in luxury accomodations while the vehicle is fitted expressly to your specs makes each vehicle essentially a custom. The important details: 6-liter V8, sub-2000 pound weight (1650 lbs for the Rt.R, 1980 lbs for the Rt.S), 350 hp in street trim, 510 for the track, and 0-62 mph in four seconds flat for the Rt.S. The Rt.R should be significantly faster. Sounds especially good for $85,000, though we'll have to wait until at least 2010, and possibly even longer.

Once the Rt.Rs are in owners hands, track day support at non-pro events will be offered, as well as at FortuneSport events coordinated with Skip Barber. One bit that's a bit confusing to follow is that FortuneSport says the deposits are refundable once the program runs its course in three to five years. How FortuneSport will use some of the initial deposits to build the racers, which will then serve as prototypes for the Rt.S street version, and then turn around and hand back all the money, isn't totally clear. Hmmm. Not that this affects us, seeing as how our piggy banks are a little light to afford the lightweight, high powered vehicle, anyway.

Is this an LS V8? Anyway, this is an awesome car by the look of it, I love it already. Something I'd take over any crappy old Lotus, or Caterham, or (well maybe not Elfin :D). What's your thoughts?

I dont' see any real metal being laid, and I'm usually doubtful about these projects at this stage. I dont' like the looks, either, a not-so-great render.

I'll file it in the "believe it when I see it" drawer. People have some strange records of doing stupid designs, over-promising and under-delivering.

Too bad you won't be able to see the apex with those huge wheels/fenders blocking the way. That image is reminding me of the Audi in iRobot.

The image looks too outlandish to execute properly to retain any sort of flair, and it looks like a caricature of a Bugatti Veyron, if you consider the hint of a grill at the front end.

My thoughts include Lotus not being crappy to start with.

Following that, they have a very ambitious goal and I doubt they will make true on the weight claims. And a 350 HP 6 liter just sounds... pedestrian. Not exotic at all, regardless of how fast it makes the car.

The design must be cleaned up. I am having a fit looking at it because it reminds me of something cartoony a kid would draw and then build with Legos or something

I'd kinda like it if they got rid of the huge rims.I think they took the futuristic style way to far*remembers iRobot*

Hey, let's pick on something small and obviously sarcastic because that's what we all do. If you're going to continue acting immature towards me, please just shut up and stay away from me.

And if you are going to be so upset over a simple remark of my own opinion, you shouldn't be on the internet. End of story. And you should also you've painted yourself heavily has a V8 push-rod power guy and thus your sarcasm regarding 4 cylinder DOHC cars is somewhat hard to discern.

And trying to be polite while asking someone to shut up, is, how do I say this... self defeating? Further, half of what you posted pertained to the crapiness of certain cars, so it didn't seem that small. At least percentage wise.

Do you actually read what you post and how people react, or do you just assume people are attacking you because they have questioned your position on matters before?

I react to your remark of my post because of your history of needlessly trying to pick on me for no apparent reason. If you could also point to me in the direction where I paint myself heavily as a V8 push-rod guy, I'd love to see it. In fact, I believe I've said a number of times I like V6s possibly the most. Just because I like Holdens, or like V8s, doesn't mean I'm blind to the rest of the automotive world like some redneck.
By the way, who was trying to be polite? I wasn't, and neither were you. I know what I post, and then I read the replies, here's what I see:
I post a reply where I state I like Holdens for example, then someone like you comes along and starts accusing me of being a Holden fanboi and biased towards Holden, believing that nothing could ever be better than a Holden. I'm smarter than you think, and I'm sure if we actually knew each other in real life, we'd be good friends, because you'd experience first hand how easy going and willing to learn I really am. Not to mention we both have an interest in sports cars in common, and that's getting pretty rare in this penny pinching age.
I'm sorry if I have a lot of pride, I can't help that, but pride doesn't mean I'm cocky and self-absorbed either, so when someone repeatedly personally attacks me I can't help but react- but I'm never the aggressor if you notice, because I'm not a fan of negativity and violent/reckless behaviour.

You have a nasty habit of being noticeably hypocritical, quick to snap, and thinking people are attacking you when they're not. The sooner you realize that nothing on the internet should truly be taken entirely seriously, the better.

There'll be a lot less e-fights in your future that way. ;)

Again, point me to where I have been hypocritical, I'd love to read that. I think I've just explained in my previous post why I'm quick to snap, but I take things a bit seriously on the internet, because obviously I mistakenly treat you guys like humans.:p

Look at your screen name. LOOK AT IT.

Aggressor? You took my comment about Lotus that far? I thought all the former British colonies got dry humor (excluding the US) but perhaps I was mistaken. Stop playing drama queen on the internet and start questioning your own actions. You often discuss topics as if you are knowledgeable, but after you start digging a hole you bring up how you really don't know.

But honestly, stop taking everything so personally on this forum. Look around - you'll notice I make contrary posts regarding the posts of numerous members. Look at how this thread went

- Attempt at ha ha funny sarcasm regarding Lotus being crap.

- Dry humor post playing on your request to hear our thoughts.

- Claims that you are being attacked, picked on, and a request for the supposed to "attacker" to shut up.

You through some "witty" comment out about a respectable car maker and you don't expect someone to express a bit of their mind?

Naive

Back to topic you whinging keyboard monkeys!! :p:D:lol: Either that or handbags at 10 paces and settle it like women. :p:p:p;)

Geez Louise, I almost thought I was reading GTP, not The View forum!! :irked:

Now, as for the car itself. I like the design. The fact it's got a 6.0L ONLY pumping 350hp....that's only Commodore SS power and engine specs with a better PTW ratio, that's it. The 510hp version is the one that's getting me more interested but not too greatly.

A better engine option would've been a TT V6 around 2.5 to 3.0L (ala Noble M12), pumping around 400hp with a crapload of torque. Better for fuel economy too in this world we live in where it's $1000/ml for petrol (I know I'm exaggerating!!).

Hey hey, don't mind him, he's Victorian. :sly:

Hey hey, don't mind him, he's Mexican. :sly:

Fixed quote for the other Australian members.

To my global brethren, over here we consider Victorian's as Mexican's because they're south of the NSW border. :p

Edit: You know what, the part about me being snappy and over-reacting tonight is true, I'm sorry. There's been a few things in my life lately that have really been getting me down, my self-esteem is so low that every little seemingly snyde remark feels like you're kicking me while I'm down, and I lash out as a result. Sorry Azuremen. (But I still want you to know that I'm not in any way biased)

Well that would make me Canadian, not Mexican.:p

On topic, I can only imagine the stresses on the chassis and weight balancing issues with a 6.0L V8 in the back of a sub-2000lb car, or for that matter, sub-1700lb. Handling in the wet...

Car designers tend to draw like that...it seems to be a sickness these days.

I still fail to see the point. If Panoz weren't supposedly involved, I'd suspect this of being a bait 'n run deal.

I imagine it would have quite good grip.

I wouldn't have thought so, look at LMP001 cars.

True, all designer's sketches have huge rims, just look at any design sketches then look at the final product.;)

I guess I'm thinking of the 1930s...

...but LMPs have much better downforce working for them, and presumably their engines are of lighter construction. Reading it again, however, I suppose I have proved to be incorrect.

That's true, and then JGTC cars have loads of downforce too, but time will tell.
