forums won't work with mozilla

I've always used mozilla on my laptop. right now, i'm using chrome just to make this post. some time earlier this year, when i click on forums, the page would never load. the status bar would be stuck trying to load google-analytics.com or something like that. i ended up downloading and installing an add-on from mozilla to get around that issue. it didn't fully work as now the page is stuck with the status bar saying, "read tpc.googlesyndication.com". i tried to figure out an answer, but got no where. So basically, I can't view the forums with mozilla.

I use Firefox exclusively and haven't had any problems. Have you tried using Safe Mode to ensure its not an add-on issue?

Firefox user here as well, & no problems for me.

If you can get by with Chrome, why not stick with that instead?

Been using Firefox forever, and I never ran into a problem like yours before.

I say, go around the obstacle if you can't go through it...

Make sure the browser is up to date, remove third-party add-ons (particularly anything to do with flash), maybe do a full de-install re-install?

Just viewed this page with Firefox and it's A-OK.

ok, i guess it's some setting on my pc then. i don't really do much as far as modding my pc or anything, but a few years ago i had some spyware/google searchbar crap so i turned a bunch of add-ons off.

upon searching, those two sites the forums try to reach out to are for tracking users' activity and what not. i was curious why is the forum even dealing with that stuff anyways.

mozilla has always worked great up until this. never needed chrome.

thanks.

@Jordan is the man to ask... but my guess is that what you're seeing is a process from the site's inline advertising, nothing to worry about. If you are worried about it then you should probably step away from the whole of the modern internet :)

You could always try using lynx. I just tried it and it works just fine with GTPlanet.

But yeah, @Jordan is the man to ask.

I use Google Analytics here to monitor site traffic, to understand how many people visit the site, where they come from, browser types, sizes, settings, etc. It is very common, used by more than 62% of the top 10,000 websites on the Internet.

It's hard for me to say why it is causing problems for you, although many types of "scareware" and overzealous security software (designed to make you think it's protecting you by flagging all types of normal, benign things as threats or privacy concerns, so you'll continue to pay for it) will try to block it.
