Forza 4 and GT5

So, today, i bit the bullet and went out and used my Reward zone gift money to purchase a copy of Forza 4... how people can even compare the 2 is beyond me, ive been playing this game for about 6-7 hours and if I could find one way to describe it, it'd be.... Need for Speed Shift on roids without the shaky helmet camera, hell, even the 3-2-1-go is the same as shift (sound and revving engine) every car can drift like its a rear wheel drive car with the assists off, seriously my rear end was kicking out on my mazda 3, The AI is about the only thing I can say is somewhat better than GT5, the graphics look like a cartoon, the tracks are blurry, the detail in the car is shameful really, its all gloss, what i mean by that is this game is pretty much a turd wrapped in glossy gift packaging, again, you take need for speed shift 2, combine it with grid and you have forza 4..... minus the wheels flying off... its just horrible...

OMG i can paint my car with decals, omg i can walk around my car and open the doors and look around...weeeeeeeeeee

One person only needs to look at the cusco Subaru in both games to compare and they will see how much more effort was put into gt5.. again, CRAP game = forza 4, but thats just my opinion

Sorry, had to voice my displeasure and utter amazement that people even compare the 2 games...

Exactly what i did and how i felt with Forza3, i even got a fanatec wheel. I had to return it all. :lol:

I think this thread will get closed and/or have Forza fanboys on your neck ... get ready.

I love LA, but I miss Chi Town. My hometown has great weather but Chicago was amazing.

Anyway, back on topic.

I know threads like this will be closed soon. But I think PD could learn from Turn10. Despite what you think of Forza, the series has evolved the racing genre..

boo to fanboys, im not at all, i gave each an = chance, yes i was displeased with a few things in GT5 given the hype it had and how long i waited, but for the most part it was what i expected in a DRIVING/RACING game, im one that likes to tune and do laps alone and beat my own times, to just get better and better, with the occasional online skirmish with some friends...
Forza 4 is just a beefed up arcade game with simulation gimmiks it seems... Ill admit i almost creamed in my pants when jeremy clarkson started with the intro, I was like SWEEEET gonna be awesome, then I played in the intro race, whats the point in the intro race btw... all u have to do is hold down the throttle, the game breaks and turns for you...... LMAO.
the cars look amazing for the most part on the show room floor, once u get into a race, different story... at least with gt5, what u see is what you get, even with standard, oh well.. might i add, understeer city, and i have yet to be able to have a CLEAN lap time when the AI is on the track, they are way to aggressive, its either, A, brake early and get rear ended and thrown like u got hit by a mac truck, or B. brake late and miss the apex by a mile and end up in the dirt, which, might i add is like quick sand STILL, not to mention the magnet walls are still their as well.....sigh, at least it was with some of my reward zone money so technically "free"....
 
Except GT5 took what 5-6 years to make? Yet they only have 200 premiums. LOL

I used to HEAVILY be on PD's side, but I realized those guys will NEVER get it right. So I say let the Japanese make a game that caters to them. I will play a game that caters to me, I like to drive and customize my car. I don't want to be confined to only changing paints on some cars and be stuck with the same wheel set as 2004's GT4.

Ok, GT has only 200 premiums, more with DLC and what not to come of course, but ONE gt5 premium has more work put into that ONE car then im sure most of turn 10s team put into 5, the cockpits are 100% true to life, hell the entire inside of the car is modeled to the inch of what its real life counterpart is, forza 4 has nothing behind the driver seat or the floor for that matter... again, forza 4 just feels like need for speed, with the ability to drift around every corner with any car, they HAVE really stepped it up over the years I will give them that much,, I honestly could care less about graphics in a racing/driving game, give me something that feels like im driving a car, not a bouncy gloss mobile that has more body roll than a sumo wrestler turning over on the couch to get his klondike bar...
Again, to me, the game is just a totally different flavor than GT5, and the only resemblance is, they have cars, and they go in circles. again, just MY opinion :)

This thread helps me a bit with my not wanting to buy FM4. I don't want to buy FM4 because there'd never be a way for me to use the DFGT on it and I know I won't be paying more than a PS3 to buy a Fanatec steering wheel.
 
Don't have an Xbox, so i want an actual unbiased opinion on Forza 4 compared to GT5.
 
Look at the time frame between GT4 and GT5 compared to Forza 3 and Forza 4. I've never played Forza but from what I've read in the first post it seems Forza might be like NFS? A game that takes like a year or so from scratch to finished product really isn't going to be great.

It took PD nearly a year to come up with DLC, the Forza guys I bet already have DLC. If not I bet we'll see some by Christmas.

I'm not making this into a debate thread but I have been viewing the Forza threads and I don't see anyone complaining about the cars, I have seen them complain about certain cars handling like crap unless its AWD. Reason why I am jumping ship/playing both is because I can make my cars more unique.
I'd love to have a black roofed, rest of the car red 458 Italia. Or a '11 GT500 or a slew of other cars that will never make it in GT because PD will probably put more Premiums nobody gives two ***** about.

LOL, its the easiest one to find, but you check out other standards and its the same. I recently traded for a Saleen S7 and it was pixelated just like that picture.

I own both, mine is not biased at all, I went in to both games with an open mind, i raced the same cars, on the same track, with as close to the same type of layout tune wise as i could, and with forza i was floating all over.. braking is way different then gt5, you can drift any car in forza 4 by going into a turn hard and feathering the throttle, with a front wheel drive stock compact hatch back none the less u end up lookin like you've been doing it for years, and again, the under steer my GOD the understear on EVERY DANG CAR :(

It's a bit like these Chinese cars that are hitting the market lately.. you only have to look at it to think "wow.. stuff this, its badness is obvious".

It took PD nearly a year to come up with DLC, the Forza guys I bet already have DLC. If not I bet we'll see some by Christmas.

I'm not making this into a debate thread but I have been viewing the Forza threads and I don't see anyone complaining about the cars, I have seen them complain about certain cars handling like crap unless its AWD. Reason why I am jumping ship/playing both is because I can make my cars more unique.
I'd love to have a black roofed, rest of the car red 458 Italia. Or a '11 GT500 or a slew of other cars that will never make it in GT because PD will probably put more Premiums nobody gives two ***** about.

you also have to realize forza doesnt have weather, or rally, snow/dirt/rain, water on the track, gt5 deals with all of those in its physics engine, forza 4 has track temp and tire temp, that is all

Im not going to spend Money for an xbox to try it. And non of my friends have an xbox, so that out the window.
 
An unbiased opinion:

I bought Forza 4 on release day. I played it for 2 hours trying to convince my brain that the physics and graphics were as good as GT5. I turned it off and immediately went back to GT5.

I felt Forza was a waste of my time.

Not to start a whole big thing, but you do realize that turn10 basically could have had most cars in the game at launch but would rather make more money by selling them as DLC (can't blame them,it's a business). Turn 10 says they would release about 10 cars a month, now I understand it took PD almost a year but I can see this DLC as actual DLC, not just holding off cars to make more money. Also don't forget the 11 free nascars and new GTR.

After playing Forza 4 for a week now, I really miss..

-Premium models (lights, engine startups, wipers, backseat, etc)
-weather/night
-clean 1080p graphics
-looking left/right (wheel user)
-GOOD replays (in FM the camera fumbles around, losing the car, missing powerful opps)
-polished driver animations
-no built in assists
-stronger FFb
-good and diverse selection in music
-Horn #33


I still have fun with Forza for what it's worth..

We already have a GT vs FM thread and have no need of another, the OP should also reread the AUP they agreed to follow when they joined, because the use of good basic grammar is a requirement when posting on GT Planet, as is not using text speak.

Once the right threads are used and the AUP isn't being abused we can start to talk about some of the issues raised.
