Well, if they are going to showcase the game in the next Developer Direct on January 22, an almost 5-month launch window is very reasonable and will very likely be ahead of any GTA6 launch (or postponement). Bring it!

I want Motorsport news haha bud Horizon i played always on the side. Althought after all the events i never had something to do then repeating the Collosus in cars i like....... the free roaming parts of without a goal driving was never my thing to be honest bud always played them so this one to.

Any particular reason for the smaller car list compared to FH5? I only ask that was this the case for previous entries and what was the reason given?

A lot of existing cars won't be licensed at launch, likely to save on budget for launch. This also allows to dripfeed back some of the more popular cars as returning to pad out the live service aspect, in between the actual new additions. It also allows them to spend on licensing across the life of the game rather than all at launch.

Apart from that, some cars might be undergoing small updates (new parts, engine swaps etc.), some get cut because a newer version exists (Base Huracan, 911 Carrera, 488GTB etc.), some get cut because of potential licensing issues (like the movie cars or branded content like drift cars or the race cars, which usually have multiple licenses attached to it - rip DB10) and others get cut because they aren't used much by players. Some won't make it because they are too niche or don't fit the new destination.

Every prior game (barring FH2 iirc It was FH3) has had less cars at launch than its predecessor at EOL.
  • FH1 went from 143 to 218 (+75)
  • FH2 went from 198 to 337 (+139)
  • FH3 went from 381 to 524 (+143)
  • FH4 went from 481 to 752 (+271)
  • FH5 went from 537 to 902 (+365)

They better keep the backstage pass system or something of the sorts especially for people like me who play on PS5 and will be forced to miss out on the dripfeed cars until it comes out on PS5

Thank you for the in-depth explanation. Been a Forza fan since Motorsport 2 but have missed out on the X1-XS releases, would love to get back into it on PS5.

5 was the same as 4 with a new coat of paint. So I think 6 will be the same game as 4 and 5 so I'm not interested in playing the same exact game again

For what it’s worth, I think 5 was a bit of stopgap game while they worked out the new engine (based on FM2023’s) and waited until there was a bigger market for the now current gen hardware so they could deliver on what they wanted to do (5 was cross-gen, don’t forget).

It’s been the longest gap in development the series has had, with plenty of player feedback and setting it in the most hyped location possible. With all those factors in mind, I do think they may be changing things up this time. Obviously we don’t know that yet, but it’s worth a look at least before immediately writing it off as pure complacency.

Im looking forward to this in May.I still go back to FH5,and sometimes 4 aswell, but have not really played it much since collecting all the cars i wanted.
I dont understand why they cant release FH6 and GTA around the same time, surely if you want either game you will buy them regardless of release date? It will be interesting to see what the price is for the full editions,i usually buy the premium edition for the FH games just for the extras. In any case FH6 and GTA are the only 2 games on my radar this year, maybe Ride 6 but that is generally just more of the same each version but with updated models.

Here's the thing about the backstage pass, for FH4 and FH5 it's been the end of life solution to exclusive cars from the seasonals, and only gets added when there's no more monthly updates. IMO I wouldn't mind it being in FH6 day one with cars from a season being added say a month later, but its sadly unlikely.
