I've been a huge Gran Turismo fan up from GT1 to GT5, but today I went and bought an Xbox and FM4 because I was getting a little tired of Gran Turismo.

Anyway, I just want to say that if you are frustrated with GT5, Forza really is an acceptable alternative. I was apprehensive about it because I've heard the physics aren't as good, but the physics are fine. I only use a controller, but in some ways the physics are better (gear changes are more realistic, and taking a small car at top speed around a course is nerve-racking, not solid and smooth like in GT5).

The car sounds in Forza are a little better, but not by a whole lot. The graphics are on the whole maybe a little worse than in GT5, but they are more consistent. And finally, the game play and car selection is, in my opinion, quite a bit better than GT5.

So, if you haven't played Forza, don't knock it. Hopefully GT6 is everything we all want it to be, but nobody here is holding their breath.

This doesn't really sound GT5 related, so much as an ad for Forza.

Plus there is already a forza 4 vs GT5 thread.

The way I look at it is as follows: Gran Turismo and Forza aren't meant to be compared. Forza Motorsport is a Car Culture game, while GT5 is a Racing/Driving enthusiast's game.
Both developers have accomplished what they wanted to accomplish with their games..
Why can't people leave it alone.

Can anyone explain why this is?

That's one of the first things I noticed after playing Forza - Slow cars are fun. They just seem lively in comparison to their GT5 equivalents

There are two threads for comparing GT and Forza already.

Sorry, but I want to respond to this:

Because quite frankly, that's your opinion. I own both and I think they're similar enough to be compared. They have a lot in common.

Gonna have to disagree after winning a PP-limited race online the other night in a Honda 1300 Coupe 9. Using the wayward rear end to back it into corners was some of the best fun I've ever had in a racing game.

This is the first time I've ever seen a thread like this. EVER.

1. This is NEW!

2. This is EXCITING!

3. Both good games.

Im surprised this hasnt been locked.

I completely agree, it's a duplicate of two threads and it didn't make any points that haven't already been made a dozen times over. Pointless.

They ca be compared how? Besides the fact that they both play on console, and have cars in them, there is not much to compare.
Forza has ZERO realism compared to GT5's decent realism. You can't bring Forza skills to a race track the way you can with GT5. Need proof? Last weekend FM4's fastest ring driver went to the Ring in real life, and almost killed himself within 15 minutes of being on track. (Literally almost killed himself). GTAcademy drivers actually did very well when they went there. End of discussion. I won't be continuing this debate.

Don't spout nonsense. GT very clearly trails Forza when it comes to being a simulator. Even if you don't buy that, they both rely on the same arcady progression structure, though Forza sort of makes it resemble real racing by breaking things up in a schedule. Neither simulate an actual racing career though.

The little Ring anecdote doesn't tell us anything.
