Wow!!
A quick story summary, A sweet old lady gets killed in a raid in a shop. Her 4 (adopted) sons (mark Whalberg, Tyrese Gibson, Andre Benjamin & some other guy) come back to the home town to find who killed there sweet old mama. But is it as simple as that??
This is a great film. It may sound like your typical revenge drama/thriller, but it has depth, heart and soul.
All the lead actors are great, with only Tyrese once slipping on some odd dialogue. Mark Whalberg has always been one of my fav actors since the
excellent Three Kings. "hehe they look like nipples" it may make no sense now, but the entire cinema cracked up at that line. The chemistry between the 4 brothers is great & they act like your typical bickering siblings.
The direction is very good, with brilliant camera work during the action sequences & one very good car chase (in the snow!) that is very realistic & intense. Then there is a gun fight that is extremelly well made, reminisent of a Precinct 13 style raid. The script is well written & has the some extremely funny LOL moments "hehe they look like nipples", it might not seem funny to read, but everyone in the cinema cracked up at that line. As mensioned above, the silly bickering between the brothers is very funny & very real seeming.
I won't say what caused it, but i cried in this. And i mean properly cried (a good 3-4 tears!) & that is effin hard to do with me, i've only ever properly cried at 4 other films! So good work!
There are 3 twists(ish) in this, 1 i worked out before i enter the cinema. 1 i worked out after a few minutes & the last 1 "oh!" i didn't see coming at all. Great film, great acting, great direction, great film!!
