Nurburgring Nordschleife: All 4 Sections

Game Mode:

  • Free Play > Hot Lap
[*]Nurburgring Nordschleife > All 4 Sections
[*]Complete one lap combining each of your fastest, clean sections. Your total time will be the sum of all the section times combined. Please refer to the OLR Rules and Qualifier Rules below before submitting your fastest lap.

frs3c.jpg

Car specifications:

699 PI Class S 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR. Tune it anyway you want. Speed? Handling? Both? Just keep it at 699 PI or less.

In-Game Difficulty Options:

  • Braking (ABS): Optional
  • Steering: Optional
  • Stability Control: Optional
  • Traction Control: Optional
  • Shifting: Optional
  • Suggested Line: Optional
  • Rewind: OFF

Standard clean OLR rules apply:

  • All Hard Surfaces are track. This includes rumble strips, concrete, cobbles, etc
  • If your lap gets flagged with the Forza Invalidation Indicator: /!\ Your lap may still count as long as it fits the rest of the listed criteria (i.e. two tires were on/above the track when the /!\ indicator came up)
  • However, if you get the Forza Invalidation Indicator: /!\ at the start of your lap, the lap will not count as you may have gained an unfair advantage at the end of the previous lap
  • Rewind MUST be set to OFF
  • 2 wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the game
  • Anything we haven’t thought of that could be construed as cheating
  • Save your replay and keep it safe for at least 6 weeks after the deadline

Submission And Participation:

When you have verified your lap is clean and the best you can do, visit http://frs.atspace.co.uk/submit.
Fill out each field and click Submit at the bottom to complete the process.

This week's time needs to be submitted before April 2nd by 11:59PM Pacific Standard Time. This is GMT -8 or -7 depending on daylight savings time.

If you encounter any issues with the submission form or process, please send a PM to Terronium-12 or Jump_Ace. Also note the following:

  • You can submit only ONCE (be sure to give it your best effort)
  • Please give it your best effort as sandbagging is highly frowned upon in the Forza Planet community.

Feel free to post your best times in this thread. You can compare how you stack up with other participants throughout the week by visiting the FRS Weekly Splits Leaderboard (which can be found here: http://frs.forzaplanet.net).

Please refer to this Time Calculator Website to properly add multiple times together (when necessary) before submitting your time.

This is a friendly competition open to drivers of all abilities, so start racing and we'll see you in the results :) 👍

Time Verification:

SPECIAL NOTE: When running your qualifier time. Please restart your session every 15 or sooner (10 to 12 laps depending on the track). FM4 will stop recording your replay after (roughly) 15 minutes. Thus, if you run your best lap after it stops recording, it won't count as you can't provide the replay.

Save your replay and keep it at least 6 weeks after submission:

  • Top 3 fastest times from each division will be required to submit a replay for verification
  • Any submitted time is subject to a time verification request
  • When a time verification has been requested, the concerned racer must provide a replay within 3 days
  • Failure to do so will result in the submitted time being ignored for official registration
  • Video replays are not accepted (i.e. using camera phone, camcorders, etc.)

Submitting And Verifying A Requested Replay:

If a request is made for you to supply a replay, look in the results thread for a "(Replay Required)" to appear next to your name and submitted time. You may also get a PM if a replay hasn't been promptly provided.

Many hands make little work and if you can assist the Race Stewards in verifying each others lap times, it won't go unappreciated. Follow The Guide To Managing FM4 Replays to verify another drivers submitted time.

Remember to mark whether the replay was valid or not in the results thread:
user118395pic1573412914.gif
- Clean/Valid Lap
rflagnv1.gif
- Dirty/Invalid Lap
bflagtp3.gif
- DQ'd Lap (only used in the results thread by the Race Stewards)

The code to insert a flag is. Remember to wrap them in an Image Tag;

Race Stewards Comments:

Your task is to run your best time at each section, for a combined lap total. Remember to keep two wheels on the track/rumble strips at all times.

Remember to keep at least two tires on the rumble strip and/or within the white lines on the tarmac. Taking a turn too fast that causes you to go into a run-off, dirt, sand, etc. will invalidate your lap.

Because the FRS is a new series, here is a quick run-down of what you need to do to participate:

  1. Run the Registry Qualifier if you haven't yet, which can be found HERE.
  2. Now load up this week's FRS Car and Track Combo. Drive your best, clean lap(s). Post your results in this thread as you progress throughout the week.
  3. Compare your splits with other participants by visiting the FRS Weekly Splits Leaderboard
  4. When you've done your best, submit your time before the above deadline using FRS Submission Form found HERE.
NOTE - Regarding week's submission form, please leave the Division section blank.

If you have any questions, please post them in the Registry Discussion Thread.

Terms & Conditions of Participation:

When participating in the FRS, you hereby agree to the following terms & conditions:

  1. You agree to abide by the FP Rules & Guidelines: http://www.forzaplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=911
  2. Only one registered XBox Live Gamertag per FP member
  3. Anyone found, or attempting to have more than one registered XBox Live Gamertag will be excluded from all approved FP events and removed from the official FP_Registry.
  4. By registering you agree to abide to all race rules & driving standards laid out by the hosts of all FP approved race events.
  5. When using your official XBox LIve Gamertag registered ID in public or private races outside of FP's control, it is expected that you race to the standard that is deemed acceptable by the hosts of the given event.
  6. While FP has a specific code of conduct for appropriate online gaming behavior for our authorized "FP" tag users to follow, we however have no control of anyone's usage of their XBox Live Gamertag and FP is in no way be responsible for any misconduct by anyone that uses their XBox Gamertag if their player name does not appear in the Official FP_Registry.
  7. You agree not to do anything that can be construed as going against the spirit of the game, either here at the FP or anywhere outside the domain of FP.
  8. The Race Admins will evaluate the registration of a player, after having been disqualified from a race for the third time, and subsequently have the right to disqualify this player from the FP_Registry in case they consider legitimate.
  9. Flagrant violations of the FP Online Racing Rules & Guidelines may result in exclusion from the FP_Registry.
  10. Most importantly, you are expected to have fun.

Good luck. 👍

FP OLR Admin Team

First try total of 8:50.264.
Cautiously trying to stay on track. I think this could consume an awful lot of my time in the next week.

Here's a question for you guys. Would you rather just post your final time for the leaderboard, or would you rather post your time for each section to kind of compare section times amongst each other?

Its a little more work for us to do each section, but thats what I was assuming everyone would prefer.

Thoughts?

Jerome

I really like the idea of each section. You can try harder and if you spoil the lap, then a restart doesn't cost six or seven minutes of your time. It also forces me to get as good a launch as I can. You can concentrate on one sector and improve the time for the overall. I wish I could have taken the best parts of some of last week's corners to combine into one great lap.

Sections are preferred, but only if we compare times individually for each section and not as a whole lap. A whole lap (IMO) needs to be completed by a car that remains the same (tune wise) throughout the lap. Dividing the track into sections allows for some tuning and setting changes, which isn't a bad thing.

just want to make sure we don't race the whole track
we race each section from a standing start then add up the times

Yes, you're right. Race each section on it's own, not the whole lap!

From Farming the Fog's comment I get the idea he's racing the Nordschleife track, not the individual sections.

*Edit: never mind, I misread his comment and I now believe he's doing it right :P

Yep you got it Vic. Run each section as well as you can. This was something I always wanted to do in GT. I know how frustrating it is to have to re-run and re-run a lap here. For example, Mission 34 in GT4 (the game's only real flaw imo) and its the only place people want to run 500PP cars in GT5 *rolleyes*

Jerome

Did each stage once and had the following results...

Stage A - 2:04.550
Stage B - 1:57.883
Stage C - 2:21.983
Stage D - 2:21.700

There's probably some room for improvement, but I have a feeling I'm not going to do so well this week, as I'm no tuner.

I was able to race once on each leg of the track this morning:

S692 Dodge Viper ACR

S1: 2.00.366
S2: 1:57.566
S3: 2:20.216
S4: 2:21.917

They are pretty solid runs but now that I have a ghost established for each segment, I am positive I can improve.

I had a go at it again, major improvement in the times. A lot of off-road as well. Trying to wean myself off of ABS, often when I look for the light I go camping, but the times are getting quicker when I get it right. These were all the clean times I have manged so far.

Sector A 2:00.787
Sector B 1:56.934
Sector C 2:19.306
Sector D 2:21.358
Overall 8:38.385

The sectors allow for a quick restart and are less frustrating than messing up in the last sector and ending up spoiling the next lap if we were running the whole circuit.

There's probably some room for improvement, but I have a feeling I'm not going to do so well this week, as I'm no tuner.

I will post my tune on the store front tonight, if you want. I am not a great tuner, but neither am I a great driver. This one seems to work for me and is a grip rather than speed tune (I used traction control and my crutch (ABS)).

I know it can be a real pain to add up each sector time, so I wouldn't worry about it, just let the leaderboard add it up for y'all :sly:

Leaderboard Updated

Regarding our cars that we use, are we going to have to put the tune on our storefront? It would be interesting to see how people like to modify and tune their cars.

That's totally optional.

If anyone has a tune that you would like to share, feel free to either post the settings or throw it up on your storefront. Or if you are in desperate need of a tune and you bought one that worked well from the marketplace, you can post the gamertag where you bought it, or request help with tuning.

Feel free to discuss any settings related stuff, we want to keep things open 'round here.

I'll be using my trusty GT5 Apex book for tuning this week :dopey:

Jerome

Okay I just completed my first session of two runs on each track, here are my best times so far:

A: 1:58.950
B: 1:53.850
C: 2:17.917
D: 2:19.850

Done with my own tune/setup, same setup for each sector. Later this week I will tune for each sector, so expect better times! :D

Oh yeah, I forgot: I was wondering if any of you swapped the drive train for 4WD? I kept it RWD because I think it handles better.

Hah! You can do that? Thats nuts and to think it may handle better with the RWD, thats even more nuts

Jerome

Just tried it with 4WD and got my sector A time down to 1:59.987. Launch is much quicker, but the handling is much heavier. I will put this tune one on the SF as well. I think I will be flopping back and forth until one proves to be the best ( It might just be knowing the track better)

My first try got me this.

A 2:01.872
B 1:57.784
C 2:22.342
D 2:24.477

I was surprised by where these times rank on the leader boards in game. I think they were all in the top 1000. I could definitely get faster. I'll try to put my setup on my storefront.

Leaderboard Updated

My apologies on delaying the leaderboard guys, my boss has been on vaca all week and I've needed to get ready for the Emerald City Comicon for this weekend :sly: Then my wife's b-day party on Saturday, so I'm going to be MIA for a while.

Which reminds me....is anyone familiar with/has some light experience with HTML and know how to transfer minutes to seconds?

It would help us a lot if there was a 3rd person who can help update the leaderboard for everyone. Shoot me a pm if you are interested 👍

Jerome

I put my setup on my storefront, I'm not really happy with the gearing on it, but it's better than my first attempt. Still kinda pushy in the tighter corners.

These are the times for this go around:

A 2:01.504
B 1:55.916
C 2:17.721
D 2:22.426

I have not had time to run this week yet. This is my first go at it and I have only ran stage A. I loaded the tune up on my store front if anyone wants to try it out. Going to try and run Stage B a few time before giving up for the night.

Stage A 1:54.247
