FPS: Gamepad VS Keyboard / Mouse

Lets take any first person shooter game on any console or computer, and any controller from any manufacturer, and pit it against any keyboard and mouse combination.

Take your favorite FPS. I assume Halo 2, Half-Life 2, Counter Strike ... those type games will make the list.

Take your favorite gamepad. I assume the DualShock2 or maybe XBox Controller S.

Take your favorite keyboard and mouse. I like the Microsoft Natural Pro and Microsoft Intellimouse Optical.

Now, which do you prefer? Mouse or controller?

Mouse + Keyboard
The reaction time and accuracy is much better with a keyboard+mouse setup. Nothing like flicking the mouse around while headshotting everyone in CS

My point exactly. The precision and speed of mouse and keyboard are so far ahead of a controller that it's not even funny.

Anyone else?

MS and KB for EVERY FPS ever, cept halo games. I dunno why, but they feel "right" with the XBox S pad, more so then a Mouse and Keyboard. Ms and Kb gives you ubar aiming.

Why do the Halos deserve a controller when everything else needs a keyboard and mouse? Possibly because that's how you played them first? Did you know that Halo was originally supposed to be released on Windows and Macintosh simultaneously?

Yup I remember that , I guess Halo is playable with a controller just like how Goldeneye was very playable on N64

And a keyboard has a ton of buttons to use for controlling

I prefer the pad on halo simply because it feels "right" for me. It's hard to explain hehe.

I voted Mouse and Keyboard - which isn't exactly the whole truth. Instead of using the keyboard, I use a Belkin Nostromo n52 which kicks every keyboards ass.

Mouse : Logitech MX1000... How I ever lived with anything else is beyond me. Getting this was better than Xmess...

MS KB rock, for FPS nothing yet beats it.

I use a Logitech MX510 mouse and my Keyboard is the Zboard
