It's hard to believe, but in the 12 years i've been playing games, I've never gotten deeply into fps gaming. It seems that every time i play for extended periods of time, i get motion sickness. It's not so bad on pc games (I can usually last an hour or so) but on ps2, i feel like vomiting after just 30 minutes due to the jerky motions from using the stick. It really sucks because when UT2k3 came out, I really REALLY liked it... but I couldn't sit in front of the game and play for more than 45 minutes or so before calling it a day.

The weird thing is that I rarely get this problem with 3rd person games like the GTA series.

I have a feeling it's because of the fact that my aim is just horrible and that causes very jerky camera movements but still, it's annoying that I get sick from it. Like... I'm recieving a review unit for Killzone (ps2) soon and I know right now that I won't be able to play it because it'll make me sick. I had to convince one of the other reviewers at the site to trade games with me and even now I regret doing it since the guy was looking forward the game he was supposed to write about.

Did any of you have problems like this when you were first getting into fps games or any other games for that matter? Got any suggestions to stop this from happening

I've heard people talk about it before, but never whitnessed someone swaying around or getting queesy. I have, however, found people moving their head around with the movement of the screen. Which is absolutely histaricle to me because their eyes stay fixed on the center of the screen even though their head is moving all over.

GTA3 did that with me, I felt sick to my stomach, so I stopped playing and returned it. Know I want it.

I get sick when I play MOHAA:Breakthrough sometimes. Sometimes I can play for 3 hours straight and have no problems but then sometimes I feel very sick after even 10 minutes.

Driving games do it to me sometimes :indiff: The worst is when your really tired, and you try to focus on the screen, but it seems like your eyes keep bouncing up and down (or is it just me?)

I noticed you have made this mistake twice in your posts, but the word know is used if you understand somthing, and now is like... present. Or maybe you just made two typo's and i'm making myself look stupid :dunce:

I do this sometimes.. Depending on how into the game i am, and what im doing.. Such as flying a fighter jet.. That can be interesting. I catch myself doing it usaully, and stop.. Or atleas ttry to.. Haha. :)

Talking of motion sickness, anyone play that really early tron ish tank game on the ps1? I was ill after 30 seconds, motion sickness-o-rama.

I get motion sickness, not so much on a PC, but on a PS2. I can play slower moving games on PS2, but faster moving ones I can only play for about a half hour to an hour. Some faster PC games make me sick. These new 3D games for PC, like the new RCT3, make me feel sicker faster for some reason.

sometimes certain songs make me have to go crap really bad.

thats the closest that i can come to situations like this.

I've never had motion sickness on a PS2 game. But I do get it quite heavily on fps. Now, as I started reading your thread, I discovered that I never had this in 3rd person games like Max Payne, I can actually play them for hours. I never really thought about this, cause I just payed attention to this problem when it actually appeared.

Sometimes, when I'm doing a LAN with friends, we play a fps. When I run around a lot without stopping (searching for enemies), I get really "seasick" after let's say 10 minutes. And I mean really sick, like I need to throw up every second. But if I run around and stop each and every while I don't have such problems.

So it looks like the constant 3D-movement is something my body can't handle. Strangely, I only get it in fps games, no 3rd person and no racing games.

Cheers,
the Interceptor

I think third person games are probably the worst. I get motion sickness the fastest with a third person game. I think it is because the world spins so fast around this one object or something.

Vice City is notorious for that. I played for 9 days strait in the summer and got 92% completion, and then my eyes starting f-ing up. I think it is because you'r eyes are trying to see in 3D but you're just focusing on a flat glass screen that gives them nothing to percieve, and then making them sore from muscle strain. Happens to me sometimes. I find that just letting your face relax and lift your eyebrows up towards your forhead with ur thumbs seems to make them feel better for some reason. Dont ask why, i know it sounds weird as hell but it works.

When GTAIII first came out I played it 12hours a day for 3 days (yes I know stupid) and on the 3rd day I had the worst migrane!! I have never had a migrane before ethier.

Only on the GTA series (3D ones) have I ever experienced any problems with.

happened to me once when i played driver on pot.

but a friend of mine got sick after half an hour of half-life even though he can play 3rd person games on the playstation or xbox without ayn problems whatsoever.
