What do you think about Francois Duval??

I think he's pretty good the driver dispite his 12th position in Sweden 👎
Maybe he can win some races, I'm pretty sure actually.Last season he was doing pretty well in Italy and at the begin of this season he finished 3th in Monaco 👍

Cheers,

He's quite good; he was able to shine some while in the Focus, he's gonna turn some heads this year in the Xsara for sure. All he's really missing is a bit more of consistency.

Loeb and him will really be sought after near the end of this year.

Not only them, but Marcus Gronhold and Markko Martin also. 2 less teams in WRC means 4 less drivers, and in this case, they're at least good drivers. WRC will suffer a major blow if nothing happens to keep Citroen and Peugeot on.

And Francois has a great future, since last year he hasn't won just because of bad luck. Remember Germany? He beat Sainz in a real battle... If he had more consistency like you said, i think he could be on top of the leaderboard. For sure!

HI guys,

just sorry for saying so, but François Duval is not professional enough. He does not deserve driving for Citroën and Frequelin just got it right firing him.

Anyway, I hope he'll get to it one day since I am Belgian.

CHeers.

i think ford made a mistake letting him go, he was used to driving that car and was going to be something special but with a chnage to a bigger team and different car hes had to learn it again

I think that Ford was right to let him go. He did have the speed but not the consistency and in the WRC, consistency is what wins rallies and championships. In 6 rallies he managed to get 6 points and in a single rally his replacement, Carlos Sainz, one of the 90s best rally drivers and easily the most consistently fast driver in many years, managed to the same number of points.

It really is a pity that Sainz isn't racing for Citroen again because if he was the Constructors Championship would be all sewn up.

man, I know this is off topic I know, but who is that girl in your avatar? she is frickin beautiful!!!!! who is it?!!!!

rock.

I saw a rally a while ago where he totaled his car(car burned up) and before that crashed and injured his codriver.

His co driver said he didnt want to be in the same car as him anymore but i never found out if he quit.

dkstz
And Francois has a great future
He has no future anymore, leaving Ford and being replaced by Carlos.
Maybe we'll see him on a race track in the near future???

Carlos is retiring (again) after the Greek rally and Citroen are signing Duval up again to continue the rest of the season.

Really?? Didn't know that he is signing up with Citroen again.

Why did you change my quote?? I said "leaving Ford" and you changed that in Citroen!!!
Last season, he left Ford to sign up with Citroen, and that is what I was saying. He didn't leave Citroen, like you said when changing my quote, he was kicked out of the team because he wrecked to many cars. Carlos is a much better driver.

so... does Duval have a new Co-driver?

Duval's new co-driver is fellow Belgian Sven Smeets (used to co-drive for Freddy Loix)

Former co-driver Stefan Prevot refused to ever sit beside him again after the whole burning car incident.

Previously, Ford asked Prevot to co-drive for Duval, leading his first WRC co-driver Jean-Marc Fortin to be dumped.......by text message!!

I think Duval is overrated; he does have the talent to be competitive but he needs to put his head down and do the job. This he has so far failed to do for Citroen.

duval drives like he is playing a video game. he needs to learn not to take risks all the time.

Well, I thought I'd bump this back up given Duval's first WRC win at Rally Australia.

It seems Francois may be learning that if you back off a little bit, you can set faster stage times. Of course he was helped a little by retirements (particularly Loeb's) but full credit to him.

He kept the car on the road in tough conditions to take his first win. 👍

Now, do you think all is forgiven at Citroen? And do you think he'll be driving in the WRC next year?

I think he will have a drive next season, with who i dont know, possibly Mitsubishi perhaps?

My goodness, can you imagine Duval and Galli in the same team!?

*runs to try and secure Mitsubishi WRC panel repair contract*

But think of the otherside of it, think how fast they are, if it did happen it could be the suprise package of 06.

I think Mitsubishi has already been the surprise package of 2005, whether they can continue to improve in 2006 remains to be seen.

I'm still unconvinced as to Duval's potential. Certainly he has shown he can be quick, but mentally I think he has a problem. He still makes too many mistakes for someone who's been in the WRC for a number of years.

And when you watch his driving, he's still very wild. Sometimes it seems like the car is driving him rather than the other way around.

He's not so fast compared to Loeb, and Petter and Marcus.. but if he was consistent enough he could be somewhat upper in the standings...
Next year i think he won't drive a manufacturer car anymore. Hirvonnen was more impressive and really has a chance again
