Hi all,

I've just set up a server at home running SBS. I tried to install AVG on it (my av of choice) but it wouldn't let me as it's not allowed on servers.

Does anyone know of any good free anti virus programs that will work on a server?

Ta.

Opensource to the rescue, maybe?
http://sourceforge.net/projects/clamwin/

Even though SBS is based on the same core OS as XP 3/4s of software out there that would run on it will not simply because it's labeled as a Server OS. As I'm sure you've found out as well, software for servers is also much more expensive than desktop software. Let me know if clamwin will do at all what you'd like.

Hmm. I'll probably pay for one in the near future, but I'll try this in the mean time. I'll let you know how it goes.

Ta 👍

Clamwin is actually the one I use on my little server. I haven't figured out how to tell it that a certain file is safe, unfortunately, so I get a "virus detected" alert every time my external HDD gets scanned.

on a server?

How's Avast sound to you?

I'm using that instead of AVG,it caught more things than AVG i think..

I've got Avast on one of my laptops. Does it work on servers?

*edit*
Just tried it and it doesn't.
