Ubisoft has released free versions of some of its titles, like Ghost Recon and Far Cry. The catch is they've put some ads during the gameplay. I haven't tested yet but I guess it's a fair trade, free games in exchange of some ads. Here's the ones I found so far:

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Free Full Game
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Free Full Game
Far Cry Free Full Game
Rayman Raving Rabbids Free Full Game

There's also this free version of EA's Command & Conquer:

Command & Conquer Gold Free Full Game

These links are from gamershell.com but they're also available on fileplanet.

Do you really have to live in the us or is it enough to put US as country in your ubi.com profile?

According to other Brazilians all you need to do is put US as your country when you're registering at Ubisoft's website. They don't check where your connection is coming from.

I'm downloading Ghost Recon right now, I think it's the only game that might run on my PC.

Sorry to double post, I just wanted to inform that I've successfully installed and played Ghost Recon on my PC, no trouble whatsoever.

Did anyone manage to play online? I've heard it requires a serial key, so the free fun is only for single player. :(

When they say ad supported, how are those ads integrated into the game? Are they strategically located on objects like a Pepsi brand pop machine or something? Or are they just plopped somewhere on the screen kind of like a webpage banner ad?

Are the games patched to the latest versions or do they need to be patched? If they need to be patched, will the normal patches work?

Anyway, I am really interested in Far Cry. I played the demo and it was awesome. I've got Ghost Recon for PS2, so I don't need that one. GR was the only other one that kind of interested me. I may still download it to see what it is like, although it don't have the African missions that the PS2 version has. I enjoyed those missions.

Well, no luck here. It won't let me install it:

Thank you for downloading one of the promotional PC titles made available for ad-supported freeplay over the Labor Day weekend. The promotion is now closed and it is no longer possible to play the games for free.

If you are interested in further information on these titles, please visit our official website at www.ubi.com

During Game install:

Sorry, you must live in the U.S. to play this title.

It's a no go for me... I have a support ticket with Ubisoft, we'll see what their response is.

Here is the response from Ubisoft:

As of Sept. 6th at 4:00pm, the Fileplanet ad-supported free game trial is over and no additional registrations will be accepted. If you have not yet been able to activate the game, unfortunately it will not be possible for you to do so. Thank you for participating in this trial. Please be on the lookout for additional opportunities at Fileplanet.com to download free games.

I'm closing this thread due to the nature of it's time sensitive material.
