A hard press of the PS button brings up options to restart the game, turn off the controller, etc. but anything other than a hard press just shows the "not right now" image in the top right corner, is there any way around this without actually leaving the lobby?

At what point am I waiting? I started the message not knowing the host was about to change the track, not that I would have thought there would be a problem. When it became a problem, however, I did waitr. Patience is a strongsuit of mine and I let the game sit for about ten minutes with a dim screen (game darkened by PS menu but PS menu not showing unless I did a hard press of the PS button) before posting the message and then rode to my bike shop to check out progress on my Soma custom build, not returning for about an hour and finding the game still stuck with me as the room host and several complaints in the chat window about wanting a different track or different regulations. It wasn't until then that I checked my post here again to find no reply and finally broke down and turned the system off. I only checked back on this post because it happened again last night and I was hoping to see a more useful answer than what I ended up seeing.

It's likely due to a throttled or poor connection. Hardwire to your modem for the best results, but don't expect a cure. One crap connection spoils the bunch.

Been running a wired connection since "desynchronization" was an issue, but could a still-poor connection be the cause of a problem that seems to be more related to software? I'm asking not questioning, the constructive reply is greatly appreciated.

I'm wired as well, and still have a few problems if others are on wifi or worse. Could also be a PD issue. For some reason, the servers are the worst when its close to an update.

Unfortunately that doesn't really help me out all that much, and the issue has come up three times now (hence the return to this thread), but I really do appreciate the attempt you've made.

On a side note, does "worse" imply more than a few problems, worse than "others," or worse than wifi? Just a joke, don't overthink it.

I get that now and then too, I don't think it has to do with connections as it happens with any game in any mode, the screen keeps dimmed, sometimes for several minutes, but I keep patient (well... usually...) and if nothing happens after some time I press the PS button long, exit the game or application I'm running (things like VidZone) and that usually fixes the problem, the PS3 then returns to XMB menu.
In case you do not want to exit (for example you're hosting a great lobby but it's set to fixed host) nothing but waiting helps. :/

And unfortunately that hasn't seemed to help either, unless another minute longer than the couple-or-so hours I let it sit would have made a difference.

PEOPLE. Y U NO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "YOUR" AND "YOU'RE"!:grumpy:

Don't forget "YORE."

Know what the sad thing is? I can't! I actually checked out your/his posts to see what it could have been a mis-reply to but it's the most recent post.

It was unrelated. I was cruising random threads and went to message a friend, wrong window. Not that interesting, just can't delete.

Edit: I may have also been heavily intoxicated. Allegedly.
