Ok this is my first post but I am a veteran of the GT series and thought that this would be the best place to ask my question. Here we go, I got the game quite a while ago and at the time I was already 100% complete with GT3 and needed a new challenge, so I bought GT4 and proceeded to get around 92-93% complete (Driving Missions?). I had kind of sat the game aside when I had to go back to school and now I am getting it back out for some fun. My problem is that the game I originally started came up fine just as I left it, but for some odd reason when I finish a race and the screen with a GT type symbol and something like a clock spinning comes up but instead of the clock being white it comes up red and just keeps spinning as if it was frozen. This is making me go mad because I can start a race complete it and get my car then on the loading of the home screen it freezes. Hopefully some of you wizards can help me out. Much Thanks, Jimmy Lewis

Check your disc for smudges, Dust in your console? Happened to me, after I cleaned the disc and back of console with CO2 it's been working fine.

Yea after it happened a couple times today I pulled my cover off and cleaned the insides and lense thoroughly but my disc is pretty scratched so I might just rent the game then swap it out for Blockbuster's. Thanks for the help though, that was my first thought as well but maybe I didn't clean good enough. The funny thing is that as soon as I started again after it was cleaned it worked fine for about maybe 20 minutes then did the red clock thing again so I just gave up and started this thread. Thanks again, Jimmy

Yea well i was trying to be a bit sarcastic with the stealing Blockbuster's idea but after thinking about it it may work, but yea if all else fails within the next week or so I'm searching ebay for a new copy of the game. I love starting new games that I have done before, like the first time I played GT3 I bought a miata and drove it stock around the super speedway 120 times before I had 40 g's to buy a Rx7, after beating it however I am using my miata to get a ff then an mr then trying to use a different car for every race for variety. Oh well I went on a rant, I'm bored without being able to do hot laps in my M3.

whenever red thing comes up, press eject, wait a few seconds, close the tray, and it will read, if not, try again, i get it all the time, no big fuss.

sounds good, I've tried pulling it out and cleaning it but it will go back to white for about 3 seconds then back to red. I truely think I just need to get a new copy, it is in horrible shape. Thanks guys, mods you can close this.

I had this very problem with a year old copy of GT4. Tried cleaning the PS2 etc... but to no avail. Eventually i got a working game of a friend and it worked fine. Annoying but worthwile if you play GT4 a lot.

Well I just got back from grabbing a new copy of GT4 and now this one is even worse than my scratched one. It loads until the screen that says, "Sony Computer Entertainment America Presents". I have no idea why this does it I mean maybe I can clean my PS2 again, I don't know. Do you guys have any input, it is friday and I need some GT4. I wish Sony didn't suck such large balls.

Mine has some deep gashes in it. All I did was use a Disc Docter and their extreme scratch pad, game works fine now. Still a little scratched, but works fine.

Another trick I used when it was messing up is to turn off the music in the game. Fixed the problem.
