freezing issue when choosing a courtesy car in gt6

so every time WITH. OUT. FAIL. the game freezes up when I choose a courtesy car or when I try to play the first novice cup race (I'm not new I just restarted bc I had issues with playing before)
can someone please help me?

Are you running on a PS3 or RPSC3? If you're on RPCS3 you need specific settings and to not update the game beyond version 1.06.
