French Pronounciation

Hello everyone.

I'm learning French from a book right now. I'm having some trouble with words like "une imagination". Do I pronounce it like it is in English or should I pronounce it phonetically like all the other words in French? In case you don't know what I am talking about...

English pronounciation = Imajineishyun

French people already have a hard time trying to understand me and I don't want this minor obstacle to act as a barrier against meaningful communication.
