BAGHDAD , IRAQ —A customer of the Kentucky Fried Chicken near the Baghdad airport discovered a fried camel spider mixed in with the contents of his order. Ali Najib, 29, discovered the fried mix up while eating a bucket of chicken of from the famous American food chain. “I was looking for another drumstick and discovered the spider in the bottom of the bucket,” Najib described. At first I jumped spilling my gravy, because I thought it might have still been alive.” The camel spider was measured to be six inches across which is much smaller than the camel spider reported to have bit a US soldier a month ago, but big nonetheless.

Iraq does not have a functioning health inspector system like the United States does, so no news can be said of the conditions in which this Baghdad KFC are operating. Experts are beginning to question the sufficiency of the franchises deep frying equipment because of several related occurrences to this one in Baghdad . “This is not the first time a small animal or insect has found its way into the machinery used to cook Kentucky Fried Chicken,” FFADA researcher Hank White told reporters. “In the last five years there have been over 1000 cases worldwide in which rats, mice, large insects, alternative chicken parts, raccoons and squirrels have been deep fried and served to customers. This is however, the first time I have heard of a camel spider being served.”

Kentucky Fried Chicken Franchise representative Justine Wrallings assured the public that KFC is not responsible for equipment that is not checked and cleaned and for businesses that do not follow health code guidelines. “This incident in Baghdad is not related to the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise in anyway and we hope that customers will realize this and still continue to enjoy our fried treats,” Wrallings explained. She also added that the KFC Corporation would do all in its power to crack down on un-kept businesses that bear the Kentucky Fried Chicken label saying, “It creates a bad name for KFC's everywhere.”

After the incident in Baghdad , KFC franchises around the world do not seem to be suffering from the bad publicity; rather, people seem to be flocking to Kentucky Fried Chickens world wide in hopes of discovering their own surprises. Timothy Johnson, 14, told reporters that he and his friends have ordered over 30 buckets of chicken today in hopes of finding a camel spider or possibly a human body part. “This sucks,” Timothy explained. “I want to find something cool in here.”

In response to the surge of business KFC has already begun organizing plans to include a “fried prize” in every bucket of chicken much like the Kids meal toys of Burger King and McDonalds. Although no plans are clear yet, KFC creative researcher Brian O'Harris told reporters to expect to find “anything and everything you would never expect to be deep fried in a KFC bucket.” The possibility of starting a trend in fried collectibles has market watchers in frenzy. Market analysts think they may have a head start on what they believe will be the next big trend among young people.

The original fried camel spider found by Najib in the Baghdad KFC seems to have turned up on the popular internet auction website, EBay, and the highest bid is currently at 14,000 dollars. Experts believe this to be a fake claiming that the original fried spider is in the possession of a third year cook at the Baghdad KFC, Samir Juha. It is rumored that Juha is currently negotiating with representatives of the Walt Disney Corporation, in hopes of making a deal for the fried piece of popularity.

I remember pictures from early in the war of them hanging on horses and camels. One even had one devouring another.
That 'colnel' (sp?) in the background looks soo dodgy, not to mention the spider itself.

Colonel, Evan;)

That Story is propa' dodgy.

Looks like the Colonel just showed his head up right in the middle of the salad bar.
