Hi, Im new to this board, still learning to drift properly since starting at the weekend.

Ive just got a quick poll for everyone. What type of drive do you prefer to drift with? Front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, or 4 wheel drive? Any comments on why you prefer that type would also be good,

Thanks.

I agree with LanEvo. Although I think they are all just as realistic, the thing is that in real life people drift FR most of the time so in that way it sort of is more realistic to do FR. I also think that AWD takes more skill to be able to pull it off to start with, but it peaks off shortly after and is relatively easy once you get the hang of it. When I drift AWD, my steering wheel rarely leaves the center position, and if it does, it only goes about 1/3 of the way in either direction, and only to initiate a drift if my car is not sliding. I can pretty much do it without thinking. FR on the other hand seems like more of a challenge every time I do it.

very very true. with FF it's just a matter of holding e-brake through out a turn. with AWD it is just *IMHO* braking and acceling through the turn. now with FR you must apply the cprrect amount of gas and the correct amount of counter-steer to make a drift. if you can acheive that you will usually spin out on drift. FR with sims is the wasy to go

i personally think that rear drive is the more difficult of hte three... And when using a rear wheel drive car i find that mr takes less work to control that fr (due to its low inertial moment) but both are equally challenging to pull smoooth drifts off with...

I'd prefer AWD, but I'm better with FR. But if I was as good at AWD, I'd say AWD. Only because of Skylines. :p

on GT3 i prefer FR or MR, but when i get my skyline in 4 years*i wish and hope*, im sure that in the real world, awd will become my favorite...

or just take the r34, keep the more powerful rb and put a R32 type-m drivetrain in it, or loose the rb and stick the R390 engine in it- insane amounts of torque

i started with FR so thats what im most used to. FF drifting is kinda boring and AWD feels really akward to me for some reason. oh and MR is cool too :)

Mustangs are RWD so of course rwd

It's funny how people just start changing the topic, I mean it was FWD RWD or AWD, engine placement doesn't mean crap. Anywho, I'd say RWD is what I enjoy DRIVING the most, IRL because it's less likely to have problems when comparing it's drivetrain to a AWD one, and it's still good on gas as compared to a AWD car.

dude, why not just get a r34 gt-t.
wouldnt it be easier?
they are like way cheaper that getting a GT-R and changing motors and ****.
oh but you live in the u.s right?

i never even knew they had ANY road worthy skylines in the u.s

not that i liked this movie or anything, but i noticed that 2fast 2furious had a GT-R that was a right-hand-drive.

DAMN that was such a cheesy movie

:p :p :p

US actually has quite a few "road worthy skyline's" but they are only for the people with waay to much money on their hands. As for the whole RHD thing, in the US you can own 1 RHD car at any given time, but only 1 at a time.

ive done some research on how many poeple bought skylines in west coast cali 7!!! 7 poeple are rich

-ive only seen 3 of them:(

woah, some hectic stuff...
well, i live in skipland [australia], imports are soooo commmon, its like every second car that goes by has to be a supra or a skyline...
people ruin their RWD skylines by putting an un-official gt-r badge on them...
its soo rice-ish
tsk tsk tsk, when will people ever learn..

I don't know if anyone will see this since it's an old thread but hey I used the search function and avoided an "unnessary post".

Anyways, I've been searching about what exactly qualifies as a "drift" and I still don't quite know but I'd like to know... How would you drift a FWD car other than using the eBrake?? Being a FWD car I was flipping a ***** the other day and happen to break the front wheels loose and got a massive understeer going. Thanks
