NEW 2026 UPDATE

I've been seeing alot of people posting their idea of a Gen 3 V8 Supercar (Camaro & Mustang) but most of these are inaccurate in many ways. Eg. using a gr.3 Mustang which has a much lower power output and overall look, or overpowered builds in general with a livery slapped on for good measure.
I've done a bit of playing around over the weekend and think I have come up with an overall good representation of what the cars should be based on official performance stats online and a bit of intuitive tuning on my part.
The only caviat is that the Mustang cannot reach 600hp which is the official hp the car makes IRL. However, to combat this, I have reduced the weight slightly to give it the same power to weight ratio as the Camaro rather than nerfing the Camaro's power.
I've tested these cars against each other on Bathurst and with Difficulty set to Professional, both of these cars are pretty evenly matched.

Here are both Tunes. As for the liveries, there are plenty available as it stands right now so it will come down to personal preference really.

Thanks, I’m a 46 year old that grew up with my grandpa and uncles driving me around in fox bodies and SN95 Cobra’s. I have owned many and currently have a 50th anniversary Coyote. You nailed it to how it feels in real life. From my right foot to my right finger. Nailed it

Thanks. Here's hoping one day PD gives us some true V8 Supercar representation or Aussie cars for that matter. The AU Falcon from GT3 onwards would be a welcomed addition.

THis is interesting, just had this idea myself then found this thread. I was wondering sort of where to start as it is not easy to get this right, what kind of lap times are you turning at Bathurst?

2026 Update:
As most were doing on the weekend, watching the Bathurst 1000 caused me to revisit my builds and as with alot of cars in the game, the recent physics changes have had an effect on these builds also.
As such, I have gone back to each car, and made some slight adjustments that make them just as competitive with eachother if not, more so than before.

The Mustang now also makes the correct power and weight.
Follow the settings properly and make sure you buy only the parts in the settings sheets or else you will have a hard time matching the specs I have. The biggest change is the Mustang now gets the High Lift Camshaft S, which if you install all the parts correctly brings it to 620hp before adjusting the hp down. If you install any other parts, you will not be able to match the power exactly and will be at the best 1hp above or below.

Importantly: The Camaro needs to have the following Aero fitted AFTER you choose a livery, but not before you widebody it;
front, side, rear, wing custom High 07, wheels 20" stock, Wide and Wide.
The Mustang needs wide body, front Aero type A, Side Aero Type A and custom Wing set Medium Type 07.
Wheels should be 19" Wide Wide.

I'm in the process of creating a full grid of cars, INCLUDING a Supra which I will post soon, though it unfortunately won't have a V8 it is competitive and helps fill out the field.
The Camaro and Mustang each can complete Bathurst in times similar to their real life counterparts making for some awesome races.

If only PD made a feature where we could copy and paste tunes from one car to another and allowed us to bulk buy parts for that tune. That would make replicating cars soooo much quicker!

Also before anyone asks, no, none of the other Mustang variants cut it. They are either too light, too heavy and cant be reduced. Can't be modified to get more power or are incorrectly aspirated. Same goes for the Camaro but with less to choose from anyway. Trust me I've tried, don't waste your time.
These are the most true to life builds you can get on GT7 even though the Camaro has a bigger engine than in real life.

Enjoy! Hope you all appreciate the builds and maybe we can have some fun online Bathurst races in the near future.
