As an avid racer through out the Gran Turismo series, I've been wondering... Almost two and a half years after launch, what is the general publics view on PD's release of Gran Turismo 5? It seems to me that PD is beginning to focus more on the finer details of what motorsport racing really is rather than just all out fun. Since Gran Turismo 3 has been my favourite since it's release in the GT series, I can't help but compare the two side by side. What happened to the simple yet organized menu's and the tasty one liner jazz soundtracks? The quick 10 sec. GTAuto functions and crash prone ai? The clear race status that actually put a purpose onto racing the arcade mode?

Are you disapointed or happy with GT's evolution? In your opinion, what should GT stick to? Fun or sim?

Any computer game that isn't designed to be fun, is IMO a big mistake.

So, on that basis, they should stick to the less serious aspects of racing, and focus more on the light-hearted fun side. :) That's my elaborate explanation. :p

There's no reason it can't be both. There is more than enough money in the PD/Sony development bank to make this game into anything they want it to be. Think of what iRacing has done with 40,000 members. Even if they've spent an average of $250 each, that's only $10 Million compared to potential revenue of a good GT6 approaching $1Billion.

PD could easily incorporate the iRacing style of rating system, safety rating, career progression without breaking a sweat for GT6. In fact, I'd say that without that sort of thing in GT6, the series is stalled and most "serious" racers will be looking at other sims in the near future. Make it an additional cost add-on for say $30 and you'd easily sell a million or more. Call it GT5 Pro Racing or some such thing and it'll take the sim racing world by storm.

The base portion of the game could remain much the same as it is now. Add in some more fun races, open lobbies with more controls for anyone who wants to just jump in and race.

Mmmm wow couldn't have said it better myself. Johnny wins the internet. :)

He already won it twice - now he just loans it out to himself.

In my opinion, the seriousness of a-spec mode is all the more entertaining. B-Spec mode on the other hand sucks awfully. I would much rather have the b-spec calisthenics of GT4.
