IMO Fuel and tyres need to be paid for in GT6 rather than getting fuel for free and an endless supply of tyres for the one off fee that you pay!! Tyre life should be done as a percentage (100% being brand new, 0% being worn to the canvas) and grip levels to reflect this.

In 24 hr/endurance races this may mean you pay more for fuel and tyres for the race than you get for winning the race. That's how real endurance races are, so the real driving simulator should be the same

Fuel is a bit too much i think.. People would get pissed, but i do agree tires need to be worked on.. How they wear out and how you buy them

I've never seen a race car driver pay his gasman and tire man during a pit stop.

They need to make tires last longer than the tank of fuel, especially during endurance racing. Fuel is provided for anyway in real life by the sponsors or the host organization along with tires so need to pay for those.

And since they already introduced damage to the series, why not try to implement tire blowouts or flats?

Yes they should put tire flats.

Paying for damage makes sense, because it encourages better driving. Paying for fuel and tires and things of that nature would just make the game annoying. This isn't an RTS. I don't want to keep track of resource management.

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to disagree with you on paying for fuel and tyres. If you think fuel should be paid for, then please, watch a real life pitstop and see if a racing driver goes into his pocket and pays his gas man. The fuel is paid for by the sponsors of the race, and the teams are provided with a set amount of fuel each.

For tyres, at least in F1, teams are provided a set amount of each tyre type to use over the entire season (5 Options, 6 Primes, 6 Hards, 3 Intermediates and 3 Wets). If they run out of a tyre type, then too bad. Whether they pay for the tyres at the start of the season or not is out of my knowledge.

+1 👍 .

Even if I would love if I had to pay for gas in GT5, I agree with your statement.

Other GT players have noted that over a long race distance their lap times become quicker as a result of fuel becoming depleted which hints at least at GT5 simulating fuel weight based on volume. With this in mind, i think GT5 should give you an option to select how much fuel you would like to start an event with. For example, we should be able to choose to start a practice event with 1 lap of fuel and turn depletion off if we are trying to set fast laps. It makes no sense to start a 3 lap race with 60 litres of fuel on board.

Another problem with Polyphonys set up with fuel is that the fuel tank size seems to be equal for all cars which means a small car actually is carrying alot more fuel than in would be in real life and therefore has a disadvantage due to increased weight.

Also, since you can adjust the weight distribution of a car by adding ballast, it would be logical if the real fuel tank position was taken into consideration. For example, if the fuel tank was located at the rear, 60 litres of heavy fuel would be 60 litres of heavy ballast added to the rear of the car. Naturally it would burn off over a long race and the handling would reflect that. That would be awsome...
