Fuel Economy in Endurance Races

Specifically I would like to know, when tyre wear and fuel are set to max, does anyone know a standard road car in the 475pp-550pp bracket that can do 3 laps of the Nordschleife on one tank of fuel. Tyres aren't an issue because we run sports hard.

So to be competitive it needs to be no slower than 10secs a lap than it's contemporaries. That's because an average pit stop will cost me about 30secs on the track

In my little group of racing buddies we regularly have a run at this and to date all my strategies have failed :-( For some reason I am hopeless at pit stops and this is where I always end up losing the race. I either put too much or not enough fuel in if I stop on the second lap and stopping at the end of the first doesn't work either :-( And if I drive for economy I always run out of fuel on the last big straight and still lose :-(

So I would appreciate some ideas on cars that get good fuel economy and hopefully can do 3 laps on a tank. Ideally, suggestions for fast cars with very big fuel tanks :-)
 
I think I did 5-7 laps on a tank in the GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsport - however this was in the offline 4 hour Nürburgring. I'm not sure how many laps you can expect online, really.
 
Thanks for the reply Dean but I am specifically asking about online races, with tyre wear and fuel set to max. Also the GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsport is a modified race car and I am after bog stock street cars 475-550pp range.

Try the Elise 111R '04.
Nice and light, hence less fuel, very nimble and quite competitive in that range.
 
Be aware, the moment youre tyrewear is not on normal, the game does not provide you with the correct litres you would need to fuel. I suggest taking a car on track for one lap, and go back in to the pit, then check how many liters you used, multiple by 3 and it if it does not exceed 100 liters, you are good to go...

I'm pretty sure its impossible to do three laps of the nurb in ANY car with very fast fuel wear.

All cars in the game have the same 101L fuel tanks.

Mmmmmm............ that's interesting. I never realised that before. So a 1600cc Honda Civic still has a 101l fuel tank?

Then, if this is so, something like this should do 3 laps (yes it"s not the right PP I know) unless it still has the same fuel burn and runs the tank out in the same amount of time :-(

Looks like I am going to have to do some more in depth testing here. sigh.............

Not to mention PD keep changing tyre wear and fuel usage all the time so it does make it hard to keep up :-(

I can tell you what not to do :)

I was racing in conditions you describe in this thread in my favourite RuF RGT and in the final pitstop added just 8 litres of fuel. Didn't even make the second carousel :)

I am with you on that one. Been there, done that :-( It always seems to be to me either adding too much (and losing time) or too little and running out.

It's nice to meet another RGT devotee as well. One of the best cars in the whole game and an awesome bit of gear. A real weapon at 500PP std.

BTW I have worked out that the car to use is an NSX Type R '02 @ its full 475 PP. It does the 3 laps on a set of tyres with just enough full left. Lap 1 makes it look marginal but as the tyres wear and your times slow the fuel consumption drops so it just scrapes in. I think this is the car I will use.
