I have had an odd problem when doing the Red Bull standard challenge race at Fuji. For some reason since v1.06 the engine sound of the X2014 reverts to the old X2010 sound from GT5 (albeit very muted). All the AI cars sound correct and my car sounds right in the replay. It started off when I accidentally started the race in reverse gear, there was a strange thud (almost like a jack being plugged into an amp) then the sample changed.

Edit: The same thing happens in the nurb race too.
So races 1,2 and 3 have correct sound
4 and 5 have the old sound

same here
from time to time on fuji and every time on the nurb
it appeared after 1.06 but probably not immediately, maybe after a triple beep crash
i think the only way to solve that is reinstalling ...

Is it the same sound as on the Data Logger?

I have a sneaking suspicion that there's a bit of "bail-out" code that loads in the samples if it can't get the usual sounds initialised.

Try a cache clear from the options menu first, then maybe a bit of HDD TLC if no change, as outlined recently in the "performance depends on which console you have" thread.

Quite odd that there are different sounds on different tracks, makes no sense from a programming perspective does it?

Same problem here, every time on Fuji and Nurb.
It doesn't seem to be the old sample, though. It just seems that only a part of the sound works, most of the engine sound is gone.

haha omg I knew how to shift by listening to the engine sound. I did all of the redbull challenges like this. The last one with the most powerful car it for some reason mutes the sound a lot. It was so difficult going 300mph everywhere and having to look down at my speed to know if I should shift or not. I have had this problem with random cars at random tracks too. Sometimes it just goes back to normal during the race and other times it doesn't.

Hugely annoying this. I do the standards championship as a money grinder.
I have however discovered that if you wait for a car to pass by during the loading screen (before you press 'start'), you minimize the risk for the sound glitch to occur. It isn't 100% fool proof, but works maybe 7 times out of 10.
